Israel pushes law to abolish Arabic as an official / national language

. .
Makes sence, Hebrew is one of the most Ancient and prestigious Language.and People from Israel always spoke in their native language Hebrew.

@Natan we are also removing non native words from our languages and purify them with Sanskrit words.

Not going to happen.

At least 21% of Israel's population is Palestinian Arab and almost 2/3's of all Israeli Jews are Arab Jews or descendants of Arab Jews. Many of whom used to/speak Arabic to this day or Hebrew dialects heavily influenced by Arabic.

This is mere symbolism that a few Likud ministers are at the forefront of.

If Israel removes Arabic as an official language this will have negative repercussions. Israel would likely lose the goodwill that they have desperately tried to built in the Arab world (mostly to no avail among the people) post-Arab Spring.

However you never know as long as Netanyahoo is ruling.

First of all both Arabic and Hebrew are two of the oldest extant languages in the world. Secondly both of those two languages are Semitic languages. Thirdly the Hebrew spoken today has many Arabic loanwords.

Fourthly this is likely not going to happen. Fifthly, what you do in India (your claim is doubtful as the language that you have mentioned is more or less a dead language) is irrelevant to this thread.

Sixtly, Israelis like all other people do not take Uncle Toms/people sucking up to them too seriously. Nobody does as such behavior is easily exposed and frowned upon.

The bill will become law, but it wouldn't change dramatically the present status of Arabic language in Israel. It is a declarative law, we are not going to ban Arabic or something like this.

.
Arabic belongs to the region not a country changing language in national intrests is not bad but kicking it out is another story.

There is no de jure official languages in Israel actually. There is just a law that government must provide all services both in Hebrew and Arabic. That means that Hebrew and Arabic are de facto official languages in Israel. And this is not going to change.

So its purely symbolic which wont change anything on the ground and I dont think it will even pass.

and there is no de jure presence of jews in israel, at least not in the eyes of right-minded citizens of the world. the abolition of the mother tongue of the rightful inhabitants of palestine merely makes the jew thieves who stole the land appear more alien and foreign to the land.

that should make a stronger de jure and moral argument for their eradication, and as such i salute this symbolism for this makes a sweet, sweet token of death to the jewry.
