Palestinian killed, 3 injured by Israeli artillery fire in Gaza Strip

GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- A Palestinian was killed and three others were injured by Israeli artillery fire on Wednesday in the northern Gaza Strip after the Israeli army said the four planned to attack forces on the borderline.

Palestinian medics and security sources told Ma’an that the man was killed and the others sustained serious injuries during a brief military incursion by Israeli forces. The man was identified as Mousa Zaiter, 23.

Witnesses told Ma’an that Israeli military vehicles and bulldozers had crossed the border fence into the strip around 7 a.m. east of Beit Lahiya before leveling lands on the Palestinian side of the border.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that Israeli military forces in cooperation with the Israeli Security Agency targeted a “terrorist cell planning to detonate an explosive device against Israeli forces” stationed on the borderline.

Israeli media reported that the alleged "terrorist cell" had been targeted in an airstrike.

There is no fence here. Even there is and we assume Israeli narrative is true. Palestinians have every right to plant anything within their border. Explosives are defense mechanisms to foil Israel's ability to conduct land invasion(with armor) with ease. And does not warrant an violation of cease fire. That's like saying Palestinians can attack Israel for planting unmanned machine guns on their side of the border.

Palestinians will turn the other cheek. But it seems Israel is looking for more trouble lately, attacks have been common in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It may try to direct attention from the situation in the West Bank hoping all the energy will be taken into Gaza.

eh,just random artillery fire, with no provocation ?

Artillery fire is very common , as well as border incursions. Nobody is provoking Israel into occupying Palestinian territories. It's making willful decision since it largely goes unpunished. As for this specific case, no there wasn't no 'provocation'. Israel is not the angel some make it out to be. An nation that is in state of offensive(conducting military occupation/illegal mass transfer of civilians) is usually the one doing the provoking.

Hamas is considered a terror group by Israel, so Israel takes any opportunity it can to strike them; Hamas stupidly retaliates with fireworks (rockets) and then Israel responds by flattening Gaza and killing thousands of civilians.

You should see CNN here, they victimize Israel and claim they only 'retaliate'.

israel palestine conflict becoming old news ..no solution. world news is now focus on daesh and other middle east problems. palestinian must behave and not provoke israel since nobody is 2 bothered with that area anymore

common, like warning rounds fired into the wild just to let the enemy know you're there ?

you sure there wasn't any rocket fire or small arms provocation before they fired ?

Nope, otherwise it would've been reported. Israel did not claim otherwise. Anyway the situation won't and doesn't need to escalate. That doesn't mean Israel should see that as an opportunity to take peoples lives away in all Palestinian territories.

Terrorists planted a bomb near a fence and were eliminated.

Israel has cameras all over the border. If such thing occurred they could easily produce footage. I haven't seen any yet. Secondly, Palestinians have every right to do want they want within their border. Every nation has military armaments at their borders, that in no way permits an act of aggression. You could spin it how you like, theres no cause for action here and it wasn't necessary for anyone to die or to deteriorate the security situation.
