India is facing a similar situation, we won hearts in some issues and some issues we have failed. I am doubtful if we want to go the extra mile to accomodate these issues.

That is not proof of winning the hearts. The conversion to Islam happened under the threat of sword and taxes. The proof would be where Islam appreciated the local religions and did not convert them.
