Islamic Cooperation recognizes East Jerusalem as Palestinian capital

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has agreed to recognize East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine in an extraordinary summit held in Istanbul.

The OIC "declares East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine and invites all countries to recognize the State of Palestine and East Jerusalem as its occupied capital," read a joint declaration after the summit.

The ruling, which was handed down on Dec. 13, counters U.S. President Trump’s recent recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s “undivided” capital and favors the pre-1967 borders preferred by the two-state solution.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had called on the international community to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state.

“I invite countries that claim international law and equity to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state under occupation,” Erdoğan said, speaking at the OIC summit in Istanbul on the same day.

“It is a must for countries that have not yet recognized the Palestinian state to take this important step, to maintain a balance that will ensure good sense and justice in the region,” he added.

. . . . . .
This has nothing to do with Turkey and should be posted somewhere else.

This has a lot to do with Turkey, actually.
  1. Turkey is a leading OIC member.
  2. The assembly and declaration took place in Istanbul.
  3. It was Turkey who had called for the gathering and pushed the announcement.
  4. Recognition of the Palestinian state and isolation of Israel is an important component of Turkey's Middle East strategy.
  5. Israel killed 11 Turks in international waters. They openly support Kurdish insurgency against Turkey and try to harm Turkish national interests. They went as far as recognizing Talabani's illegal referendum, which of course back-fired because of Turkish-Iranian interference.
  6. Israel has adopted a pro-Greek Cypriot policy regarding the dispute over Cyprus' EEZ borders.

When will the Jews realize that laying claim and illegally (as per UN resolutions) occupying all of Jerusalem is actually hurting Israel's national interests first and foremost? Israel could make billions every year by recognizing Palestine and jointly turning the city into a tourist destination for all 3 Abrahamic religions but instead their hostile occupational policies rob them of such opportunities and keep Israel on the crosshairs of powerful forces throughout the Muslim world.

Palestinian-Israel conflict is not a problem of us Turkey, so not a topic that is suitable to post under "Turkish Defence" sub-forum.

Should be moved to relevant section of the forum.

90% of the things you mentioned wouldn’t have happened and be a problem for Turkey if Erdo didn’t try to act as a leader of the Muslims and get involved in this conflict- a conflict between Israel and the Palestinian/Arab traitors that have always been against the Turks- during the Arab revolt in WWI (their flag symbolizes it), when supporting the Greeks in Cyprus, by supporting the PKK etc. The Arab Palestinians made their choice 100 years ago so let them live with the consequences. Even a drop of Turkish blood is worth more than their whole fuckin’ Palestine.

If Erdo kept his mouth shut, if he was a little pragmatic and his advisors had at least 50 grams of brain in their heads combined Turkey wouldn’t be in such a disastrous relationship with Israel, Egypt, Syria and basically all it’s other neighbors and allies.

If nations never forgot or forgave, there'd be no international relations, trade or alliances today. Every nation would isolate itself and never talk to those it has fought with before. Look up the long history of warfare in Europe and where they are today. Look up Japanese invasions of Korea. American revolutionary war against the Brits. Or the Spanish American war. Or the Pacific front in WW2. Yesterday's enemies become the staunchest allies. Yesterday's friends become the fiercest enemies.

Look, Turks have 2000 years of state tradition of standing with and helping oppressed nations around them and we stand with the people of Palestine today in their struggle against Israel, whether you like it or not.

By the way, even if Turkey had adopted a much more amicable policy toward Israel, they'd still be supporting the PKK/YPG and Kurdish independence because their national interests and the real politik of the region dictates that. eg. eventual formation of Greater Israel.
