The Truth Behind Terrorism By Scott B. Morgan
In all of the news broadcasts around the world, print and electronic, I have found something grossly lacking since shortly after 9-11, and I feel it should be brought to light. That missing article I last heard asked on national television on 9-13-2001 was the simple question of "Why?"
The easiest way find the answer to any question is to go directly to the horse's mouth, or in this case, the horses . . . well, you know. Shortly after the World Trade Centers fell, Osama Bin Laden released a videotape outlining what he did, and more importantly why he did it, was anyone listening? Even while it was being broadcast, the major networks talked over the interpreter's voice and added their own 21st century version of wartime propaganda.
President Bush (when asked about the video) stated that we were attacked because that Muslim sect of extremists hated us for our freedoms and for who we are. I don't think so. I was listening; I wanted to know why.
You see I do not believe in killing, I abhor it and avoid it whenever possible. I do carry a firearm (two in fact) and am trained to use them if need be. If there is an immediate threat to my life or someone else's, I will react in a responsible, effective, and deadly manner, without hesitation. However, I have never even considered killing someone for any other reason. So understanding why someone wanted to kill Americans (I am an American) including me, interested me greatly.
In short, all the Muslims that have taken action against the United States or threatened to do so, including Osama Bin Numbnut, have had the same reason. And they have stated it in a variety of ways. The general message is: "Leave us alone. Go home, forget we exist, and let us fight our own battles." But you didn't get that message from any broadcast. The media, and indeed our own Government, want you to hate terrorists so that you will not only foot the bill, but also send your sons and daughters to fight the war.I am not in any way siding with these Muslim extremists, and I'm damn sure not condoning what was done to us all on 9-11. I am simply pointing out the true reason why. And suggesting that we all give it a little more thought. The truth is always best when it is brought to light, no matter what it is.
As I said earlier, I do not believe in needless killing, or killing in any way, shape or form, other than to defend life. However, I live in the U.S., and if we had been bombarded for the last 20 or 25 years by bombs or missiles coming in from Mexico, and many of my family and friends were killed by these missiles, and every one of them said "Made in Canada" on them . . . . I think I would probably be one of the first people on a plane bound for Ottawa to try and do something about it. I mean no offense to Canada or Mexico by this, but if we were having a dispute with Mexico, what the hell does it have to do with Canada? Oh they buy oil from Mexico, so what? I think Canada should go home and mind their own business!
Now in the above scenario, after watching hundreds of thousands of your countrymen, family, coworkers, and friends being killed, what would you be willing to do? Mexico was given "Smart Bombs", technically superior armament and training from Canada. So that Canada could secure a mere 12% of their oil from Mexico at a good price. How many barrels of oil is your wife worth? Your son? Your Husband? How about your Mom? At what point would you consider killing 5 or 6 thousand Canadians to try and stop the slaughter of a couple of hundred thousand Americans? (No offense to Canada.) Everyone has a different answer to that question, as we all should, but I think that everyone does have an answer. What would you do to stop it?
I personally would kill 5,000 humans if it would guarantee the salvation of 6,000 humans regardless of their nationality. Would I risk killing 5,000 if there were a chance that it may save hundreds of thousands? God has graced me with never having to find out, thankfully.
In summary, our "National Defense Budget" is how much? I played football in school, and I remember this, they named defense and offense differently for a reason, they are different things. When our defense budget is spent choosing sides among feuding countries, and blowing the crap out of everybody that we don't like this week, someone is going to do something sooner or later. That, my fellow Americans is not "defense." That is playing judge, jury, and executioner for the offensive team. After all, who are we to decide who lives and who dies? In my humble opinion we should all come home, defend what is ours, love what we have, and respect the rest of the world for the inalienable rights that we are supposed believe that all men were given. Listen to our hearts, our God, our Constitution, and worry about ourselves for a change.
