How idiotic that this is taking over 1 year, it's an isolated small part that the SDF had contained for a year yet no large offensive ops. either SAA or ISF should own this op and clear it.

SDF is facing stiff resistance in that region from an ISIS contingent that is about 2000 strong, and SDF have to maneuver carefully near the Iraqi border. SDF and Iraqi Armed Forces will get in the way of each other otherwise, and risk unnecessary casualties. Both forces are US-backed by the way. It make sense for SDF to exercise tactical withdrawal from Hajin pocket until the dust storm settle there.

SDF and Iraqi forces wouldn't clash with each other, both work with the US and Iraq has several times assisted SDF in this area with F16 and artillery strikes.

It's better to aid them now.. rather than waiting for IS to take more and kill more. But there's a bigger thing at play of course which is that the SAA wants to take it, and for Iraq to take lead and help the SDF in excessive ways it would upset the Syrian gov. US isn't too concerned about taking it quickly, they've been taking a year.

A Joint Syrian Armed Forces and Iraqi Armed Forces Operation should be Allowed by USA Coalition to clear this area just like they did in Albokamal area. But Swollen American Ego is too big to allow this.

I have talked to many REAL Syrian Arabs living Inside SYRIA. Even many of whom dislike Assad and Baathist Government and want Assad to go, still hold Syrian Army in Great Respect being Symbol of National Pride and Defenders of Homeland.
Most of the people Abusing Syrian army and Supporting these splinter groups like Kurdish YPG/SDF are Kurds from Europe and Turkey
And Supporters of Jihadi FSA/Al Nusra/HTS etc are either From Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia or Syrians Affiliated to Armed Jihad Doctrine that exist in whole Muslim world like TTP supporters in Pakistan.
