গাজীপুরের শ্রীপুর থেকে আজ রোববার সন্ধ্যায় খালিদ মেহমুদ নামে এক পাকিস্তানি নাগরিককে আটক করেছে পুলিশ। পুলিশ বলেছে, মেহমুদ পাকিস্তানের গোয়েন্দা সংস্থা আইএসআইয়ের সদস্য।

পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা গেছে, গোপন সংবাদের ভিত্তিতে গাজীপুর গোয়েন্দা পুলিশ সন্ধ্যা সাড়ে সাতটার দিকে শ্রীপুরের ইউনিলাইন নামের একটি পোশাক কারখানা থেকে মেহমুদকে আটক করে। তিনি ২০১৪ সালে পরিচয় গোপন করে এ দেশে এসেছিলেন। পরে তিনি ওই কারখানায় চাকরি নেন। সম্প্রতি তাঁর ভিসার মেয়াদ শেষ হয়ে গেলেও তিনি এ দেশেই অবস্থান করছিলেন।
গাজীপুরের পুলিশ সুপার হারুন অর রশিদ প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, আটককৃত ব্যক্তি পাকিস্তানের আইএসআইয়ের সদস্য প্রাথমিক ভাবে নিশ্চিত হয়েই তাঁকে আটক করা হয়েছে। তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করলে বিস্তারিত জানা যাবে।

Detective Brach of police on Sunday said they have arrested a Pakistani citizen suspecting him as a member of Pakistani intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence from garment factory in Gazipur.
Khalid Mehmud, 50, was arrested from a readymade garment factory named Unilense in Bhangnahati under Sreepur upazila of the district around 7pm on Sunday, reports our Gazipur Correspondent.
He was employed as an electrical engineer at the factory.
Gazipur DB police officer-in-charge Amir Hossain said acting a tip-off they conducted a raid at the factory and arrested Khalid, Khalid infiltrated in Bangladesh in 2014 concealing his identity and took a job in the factory, he said.
He was working in the factory despite the term of his visa expired.
Police was interrogating him when this report was filed.

Detective Brach of police have arrested a Pakistani citizen suspecting as a member of Pakistani intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) from a factory in Sreepur upazila of the district.

He was arrested from a readymade garment factory named Unilense in Bhangnahati under Sreepur upazila at 7pm on Sunday.

Inspector Mominul Islam of the Special Branch of the Gazipur Superintendent’s office endorsed the information to the Dhaka Tribune.

He said the Pakistani citizen was illegally infiltrated in the country disguising him in 2014 and took a job at the factory.

Based on a tip-off, he was arrested from the factory and taken to the intelligence office in Gazipur district.

However, the police official declined to give any further details, saying further details will be announced at a press briefing on Monday.

what do you mean bangla treatment? authorities should arrange his safe return to Pakistan (if he did originally come from there and if they don't like him in Bangladesh for longer i.e.)

With Hasina in power, a lot of "ISI" agents seem to suddenly be popping up. What's more, a lot of them working menial jobs! You'd think these agents would infiltrate more important organizations than a garment factory. Not to mention, they arrested him solely on his nationality, and nothing more, based on an "anonymous tip".

garments is not a unimportant organization its count for 80% of Bangladeshi export may be he was on assignment to destabilize our garments industry to weaken hasina govt. but i think Pakistan will not do this kind job which ultimately weaken Pakistani image resulting damage relation more .

Pakistan has no reason to destablize BD's garment industry, and even if it were, it would take billions of dollars to do so. There are better ways than espionage.

This is a political ploy to shore up support, nothing more. Hasina has used Pakistan as a scapegoat to rally her supporters, and gain new ones, all to make sure opposition parties can never challenge her.
