ISI agent gets 14 years in jail, two aides convicted
GWALIOR, May 29: A sessions court here has sentenced an agent of Pakistans intelligence agency ISI to 14 years in jail after he was nabbed with secret documents.
Additional Sessions Judge Meena Singh also sent two of his associates to jail, one for 10 years and the other for two years.
They were convicted under various sections of Official Secrets Act 1923 and Foreigners Act 1946.
ISI agent Abbas Ali was arrested on March 13, 2006 from the citys Daliawala mohalla where he staying under the fictitious name of Madho Singh. He had managed to obtain a driving licence and was planning to marry a local girl.
Police had also nabbed his associates-Mohammad Shahid of Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh and Ameen Ansari, a local resident.
Ansari was sentenced to 10 years in jail while Shahid was handed out a two-year prison term.
Meanwhile, a report from Vadodara said yesterday that a Pakistani youth was sent to jail for two-and-half years for travelling without passport and visa.
Additional Public Prosecutor Sunil Chaudhary said Amair Sohail was detained from Vadodara railway station on August 22, 2006. (PTI)
