Ishaq Dar visits Home Office to inform about ‘media trial’

LONDON: Pakistan’s Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has visited Britain’s Home Office to inform the authorities about the “media trial” being run by the Pakistani government in the name of a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries.

This is Dar’s second visit to the Home Office since arriving in the UK more than a year ago. When approached by The News, Dar’s son Ali Dar confirmed that his father has “decided to take up with the UK Home Office the matter of the on-going media trial against him by Pakistani authorities in relation to the purported MoU signed for his extradition”.

Ali Dar confirmed that Ishaq Dar had first contacted Home Office last year when his passport was “unlawfully cancelled through an order of the Former Chief Justice of Pakistan in September 2018”.

Previously, Ishaq Dar had stated that he had visited the Home Office to inform them of the development of cancellation of his passport which has left him practically ‘Stateless’.

Its understood that Dar decided to approach the British government after the government ministers claimed that the UK government has assured them that he will be extradited to Pakistan to face trial.

Ali Dar confirmed that Dar informed the Home Office officials that the PTI government was maligning him through media, using British govt’s name.

The PM’s adviser on accountability Shahzad Akbar has said that the UK government will arrest Dar soon, followed by his extradition to Pakistan.

On Wednesday, British Home Secretary Jeremy Hunt announced that the UK will not sign any politically motivated extradition treaty with the Pakistani government.

Three weeks ago, the News has revealed that the UK and Pakistan have signed an MoU to look into the issue of Dar’s extradition but the UK has given no assurance to Pakistan, according to the govt sources here.

.
According to the extradition MOU between two Democratic States UK & PAK, the British authorities will have to arrest Ishaq Dar and present him before an English magistrate.

UK should not protect a person who has been declared offender in an assets beyond means case. It is not just a test for Pakistan Democratic system but also for UK to maintain the law & justice.

Dar's family trying to blame on Pakistan Govt & trying to divert attention in different directions by saying media trial & political victimisation. Which is totally biased & false allegations by Dar's family because NAB & judiciary is free from any political influence & work only on the merits of constitution, UK authority should prioritize the investigations & verdicts which has already been done by both institutions of Pakistan against dar, then judge either he is culprit or not.

I am sure if UK believe in law & justice then a person like ishaq dar will be extradited. And I don't see any concert reason, evidence to be presented before Home office to prove his innocence, he & his entire family keep on telling lie but can't be able to present any evidence.

Till now he made two points
1. Passport cancellation
2. Media trial or political victimisation.

His two points are based on stupidity. The state of Pakistan cancelled his diplomatic passport because he can apply for political asylum and because he is an absconder/criminal of court despite that he can easily apply for green passport through contacting the Pakistan High Commission in UK but he wanted blue passport.

Since day one criminal mafia is trying to divert the attention by saying that it is a media trial or political victimisation. But in reality neither it is a media trial nor political victimisation. Media is also free and we can see media critics on Current Govt too. NAB & courts declared him guilty so where is political victimisation here? Although there is no such evidence of ulterior motive against NAB & judiciary.

If dar is saying indirectly that there is any ulterior motive by current Govt so he should prove first that NAB & judiciary are guilty.

MOU hit the bull's eye means things going in right direction.Simple test on any thing or any person they object(like case of Hussain Ashghar ) means good for Pakistan no wonder aaj kal Geo/Jang aur Dawn news ny bhi extra randi roona machaya huwa hai

What does this mean then:

"In response to a question, Hunt said: "Let me say it straightforward. No extradition treaty the UK will ever sign allowing for the politically motivated extradition.""

UK has to protect Dar at any cost, because if he arrested and deported then no one from third world country bring all there black money in UK , UAE or any other country.
And they call it democracy.

So it is responsibility of foreign office to take UK authority into confidence that there is no any ulterior motive behind this extradition. It's clearly a failure of foreign office I must say.

When a person like us can explain why can't foreign office? Read my 2nd post of this thread.

Exactly! Any criminal who has transferred money to UK or any other western country will be protected by them. Only those people who are homeless, helpless, penny less, but honest, will be deported back to Pakistan..

The strongest evidence against Ishaq Dar is that when he was in Pakistan and was facing a trial, he was allowed to travel to get treatment in UK. What's more the UK government wants to consider the trial in Pakistan as completely independent?

Of course, he will not face the same fate as of Morsi of Egypt..

But I know, UK is one of those countries which depend on money laundered from other countries. Tax heavens have been setup for a reason..

Let us see whether this extradition is attempted and if so, if it is successful.

Patience, my dear Paks. Patience.

Reading too much into the statements of UK FM.

What else you expect him to say? After all they have to keep their image good in the looking glass.

Isaq$ deportation would open the door to the rest of run-aways... so it is a complex negotiations.

Pak State must utilise FATF as a double edged sword for UK as well.

Londonistan cann't be that safe much longer.

However, kindly, also see the bigger picture. Pak State has just lodged complaint against BBC as well.

It is a complex game.

But for the first time in 72 years Pak State is beginning to behave like one. So a learning curve is ahead of us.

Patience!
Bro patience is good which means that during this patience our country is suffering. UK will face the heat soon. Enough is enough.

Altaf Hussain, Shareef family now ishaq dar. FATF should put UK in a grey list first, it's a save heaven of white collar criminals now.
