Abhays-drone

. . . . . . . .
For Aerial targets we have Lakshya right??

Yes, but Lakshya has a maximum speed of 0.7 Mach ... but the benefit being that is drags the actual target, while Lakshya itself can be retrieved for re-use after the practice.

All these things make Lakshya much much cheaper (with the drawback that we can test the target up to a speed of 0.7 Mach only).

Abhyas will be high speed (potentially, upto 5.0 Mach) but is expendable... we lose the engine (the costly part) when the target (Abhyas) is hit. The idea is to make it as cheap as possible for a one time use.

But still Abhyas will be costlier than Lakshya, on a per mission basis.

How it's possible to achieve Mach 5 using GT engines?
