The history of racism in the US is well known and complex, I am not going to go into this.

To the OP, the difference between China and the US is not the lack of racism. There are certainly racists in both countries. The difference is that in the US there are legal repercussions to discriminating against people, not only on account of their race, but also their religion, gender and sexual orientation. In addition, there is a very large and vocal segment of the population who will condemn racist behavior, which is largely absent in China.

The news channels are pushing out a huge list of negative racist stereotypes to demonize Chinese people on a global level. One Asian woman suffered a devastating acid attack to her face. She's in ICU.

People have been spat on, stabbed, etc. Your white police said "it's not a hate crime".

BTW, those segments of the population that condemn racist behaviors are exposed by ACTUAL liberals like ex-NYT columnist/activist, Chris Hedges. I dont think so. Although not wise, but many people there being scared of covid-19 potential threat from new immigrants and become panick is understandable. They will do the same with white and chinese who just come back from overseas but flee from carantine.
