What's new

Is the US really afraid of China power in the Pacific??

To paraphrase Winston Churchill.
There are no lasting friends nor enemies.

There is only self interest. Both Australia and Indonesia have overlapping conflicting interest. Beware of the calm sea.

In 1960 Russia and China were bitter enemies but today they are unofficial military partners.

Back to the original question.

Does Indonesia fears Australia? :coffee::sarcastic:

.
I don't think I'd say afraid but our government would be crazy to not be concerned about it. China's Navy has advanced through leaps an bounds over the last couple decades. Currently it might not win in a head to head fight with America's but barring a total war scenario it doesn't have to.

. . . .
Good thing China will be there long enough.
The Chinese civilization is the only surviving civilization in the world today and with the recent discoveries by archaeologists, it is getting older and older by the years.
And in your wild dream, you are wishing it away.
Apart from being a troll in here, are you a racist? :coffee:

Only thanks to Australia's preoccupation with China... otherwise they'll likely be busy meddling in Indonesian Papua...

Papuan rebel office is in Sweden

I dont think so, Australian foreign policy follows US policy. They are not dare doing something like that alone. It is US and European countries that push East Timor issues first and give us embargo since 1995-2005. Even Australia is still quite cozy with Indonesia in 1996 where they are cooperating with Indonesian to exploit East Timor oil field.

Their contribution in East Timor issue is because they are the closes one with East Timor and no ASEAN countries dare to hurt the feeling of Indonesian leaders. Australian armed force was under UN when they help the East Timorese during the transition time.

Some clash that is documented between Australian Army vs Indonesian Army in East Timor. Australian Army was under UN contingent

Hmm... no.. Sweden was the office of the former GAM (Aceh Separatists)... while OPM has offices in the UK, Australia, and small pacific nations like Vanuatu, Solomon etc... anyway, Australia 'formally' recognizes Papua as part of Indonesia, but it was the same as with East Timor... Formally recognizes, but still supporting the separatists informally through their NGOs, parliament members, media, support groups etc.. so very 2 faced.. and later on enthusiastically support the separatists... I have no doubt that this would still be the case today if they were not so preoccupied with China... and I also have no doubt that if we were to get too close to China, this Papua issue will suddenly flare again...
