Is Pakistan Developing its own self propelled howitzer at HIT?

i agree his post was useless and stupid , but can u support your words ( bold part) brother?

i can't view any bold part on my mobile....:what:
well i suppose u are asking about Panther...
yes pakistan is making them in home...since 2011...
well no we are not producing guns from long time....:coffee:

. . . . .
I could almost swear that after reading posts like these,my blood pressure will break one day....

Yes, a SPH was planned in the early 2000s but times have changed and not for the better,HIT has slowed down after the start of the new decade.

of course it has; especially after pervez [mush] appointed politically reliable "generals" and destroyed the economy through the NRO and RD types.....

.
Good for you....:
A Pakistani Newspaper Monday said that the tank gun is ready to be delivered to the Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) for Al-Khalid and Al-Zarar tanks. A tank gun is the main armament of a tank.

HIT used to earlier procure 125 millimetre 'blanks' from France for the army's two main battle tanks. Blanks are the final shape of the gun barrel before it is finished. It was then fitted into the tank at HIT.

While Al-Khalid - a joint venture between Pakistan and China - has been with the army since 2001, Al-Zarar is an upgraded T-59 tank.

The country's first blank was produced at the Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC) in Taxila.

Dawn quoted an official as saying the army had given a go-ahead for the production of 50 125 mm barrels for the two MBTs.

A specialised weapons grade steel was used to manufacture the tank gun. A block of metal is pressed to become a five-metre-long square bar that is forged into a smooth bore 125 mm barrel.

The HIT has finalised a deal for Rs.200 million for the 50 barrels, which is slightly less than the cost of each barrel bought from France.

The official said that after delivering 50 tank guns, the HMC plans to produce artillery guns for the Pakistan Army.

I have heard all they do is cast from the mould or something like that and that they lack the metallurgical technology and capability to forge/build guns [even rifles] from scratch--the raw material is brought from china or other overseas sources...seems plausable given the pathetic R&D in pakland....

Can YOU GUYS TELL ME HOW MANY m109 aLPHA 5's is Pakistan to receive according to the 56 million dollar deal signed in 2006 .. So far it has received 115 .. Is it going to receive more ??

In 2011, Defense News stated:
The main acquisitions are at least 297 M-109A5 155mm self-propelled howitzers that have been supplied since 2007 under a $56 million deal made in 2006, and local production of the Turkish MKEK Panter towed 155mm howitzers, by Heavy Industries Taxila's Heavy Mechanical Complex, after 12 were delivered for evaluation in 2007.

In 2010 , Xinhua reported:

The United States delivered 48 self-propelled field artillery cannons to the Pakistan Army on Saturday at the Malir Cantonment in the southern port city of Karachi, the U.S embassy said.

The delivery marks the completion of a total purchase of 115 field artillery cannons by Pakistan through the U.S. foreign military sales/foreign military finance program, the embassy spokesman said.

The FMS/FMF case was initiated by Pakistan in 2006 and enabled the government of Pakistan to obtain the cannons from the United States at a greatly discounted rate.

pathetic R&D in pakland....

Having that much trouble saying Pakistan properly? Lazybutt....

regardless, perhaps the raw materials thing has to do with the collapse of the steel mill that had so many high
hopes in Karachi.

edit: read his statement wrong,i thought he had said pakiland,my bad

. .
I personally don't think Pakistan can even build one. :coffee:

It is not impossible for them to develop SPH, though they will face many challanges; most difficult will be, in my opinion, integrating turret with intended paltform

.
Personally , go learn about the KRL-21 , google it ... :) Try to research things before making dumb statements and making fool outta yourself ...

Well , last time , they were importing even " basic ammunition " which we export to other countries :)

which is due to simple fact-economies of scale

no it is not the mill; it is the alloys that are needed for specialized use ---it needs resources and will for R&D--the former are definitely insufficient......

as for the will, read an interview by the general in charge of R&D printed in the defence journal [published by a retired army officer in karachi] some years ago ---he seemed to be saying they leave the sophisticated stuff for the "developed" countries....but may I am wrong --you must need some sort of metal alloys for the missiles they claim tom be manufacturing.....

.
Thats bcoz India has already developed 155mm 45caliber howitzer n IA has also placed orders for 144 such guns while 52 caliber version is under development....:)

Anyways best of luck to Pak if u guys r really looking forward indigenous gun..:enjoy:

thanks for info

BTW that 52 caliber version is DRDO ATAGS

Some of the major private and public sector firms which participated in the interaction were Tata Power, L&T, Bharat Forge, Mahindra Defence System, BHEL and BEL, the officials said.

Improved firepower at longer ranges, higher accuracy and enhanced survivability are some of the primary requirements for this gun system, they said.

"Efforts are being made to develop new technologies for weapon platforms, automation and control systems, recoil management, materials to achieve improved weapon performance," another official said.
