Pakistan us gaining strength...perhaps due to shift in focus because of democratic government but still army is mitigating peace process with India. No doubt they are doing exceptionally good in eliminating terrorism which they had fostered for so many years... But still when it comes to Indo-Pak peace process... They still follow Gen Zia ideology...

India is clearly the power in the region and as you say Pakistan is the counter power for India.. Both have been for decades now, If you think they're both emerging, Who infact have been the regional powers all this time ?
Bangladesh:ashamed:

I've always said this, Pakistan will be the UK to India's Germany. While India will most likely lead South Asia, Pakistan will always be there to counter balance it and make sure India never goes unchallenged.

I still think this is true.

Slightest - huh ?

And what about economic development in India dear ?

Sorry,its nowhere near India.

Per capita income
India ~ $1700
Pakistan ~ $1400

You call that a slight difference ?

Now compare GDP growth rate

India - 7.3%
Pakistan - 4.24%

& population growth rate

India - 1.2%
Pakistan - 1.95 %

Now predict what happens !! BTW Reason for our improvement since the 2000s was the result of liberalization in the 1990s !!

Compare HDI of both countries.

Its not like we are are going to just sit and wait for you to catch up.We are already growing at a good pace,we just need to keep our pace

You mean Atif Aslam ?

1. Where did you get the 1700/1400 figure? These are not there on IMF or World bank websites. The fact that it took a 5-6 year terrorism reign for India to overtake Pakistan in GDP per capita or quality of life is not Good. That too it's not that far ahead. I am sure in 5 years Pakistan will take the lead like it always has. Pakistan 's growth in 2008-2013 was not more than 3 %. For the first time it crossed 4 % due to significant fall in terrorism. Lots of foreign direct investment , Improvement in macro economics , CPEC and geographical shift from United states to Russia and central Asian states will boost the economy. 2016 prediction is 4.5-5 %.

2. HDI

Apart from HDI there are other indexes relating to quality of life where Pakistan is ahead. Like I said unfortunately the 2007-2013 terrorism cycle slowed us down. 2015 is the year of a new era again for Pakistan. the fact that we have small percent of poor people living below poverty line compared to india which has the most poor people in the world will be an advantage for us.

3. Artists
Atif aslam
Ali zafar
rahat fateh ali khan
shafqat amanat ali khan
nusrat fateh ali khan ( performed for 2-3 hollywood movies)
Adnan sami khan
atta ullah esa khelvi
Hasan jehangir
Nazia hassan
Ghulam ali

Need more? The whole south asian pop scene was made mainstream around the world by Nazia hassan and zohaib. Followed by boy bands like vital signs , strings , junoon. All of them have huge following around the world. The fact that we have produced better talent in Music , Sports ( 4 hockey world cups , 2 cricket world cups , 20 years of squash domination) , drama is a an achievement in itself

You can't expect any country whoes most parameters are almost 1/9th or 1/10th less than their counter part to be considered as a counter weight.

An emerging power in Today's world needs to Innovate, Research and Act! while doing all these with rich technology and Industry as the back bone. In those terms alone even India falls behind. Pakistan will not show up on the radar as far as these parameters go, to be a blip on the screen, atleast compete with India. Is there any industry, research anything that can compete with India's? No not happening at all!

Using natural resources and allowing other countries to gain $$$ may work for a while but ultimately if you cannot create, research and act you will always be a wannabe not a real one.

Pakistan's other problem is the absurd who is in power question, based on who is, and how maniacal he/she may be, the cycle of "look we are improving" to "not again!" will continue.

So no, I don't see Pakistan as any kind of power but it can always be a nation that can do well by using its location to good use. As a pioneering, engineering or Industrial nation, it will always be left behind...far behind INDIA.

You can take parameters with pakistan and compare

India's economy,
India's export/import figures
India's forex reserves,
india's military budget
india's electricity production
india's kee sectors like steel, coal, cement productions
india's automobile production
india's oil consumption
india's railway
india's road length
india's engineering/medical colleges
india's space sector
india's MNC's
india's stock exchanges figure

etc......

Then divide everything by 1.3 billion to get the per capita and compare with Pakistan

I don't think you quite understand how geopolitics works.

Again, you're missing the point.

Divide GDP by population - You'll get the GDP per capita for 2015.

Really ? You have been lagging behind us in GDP growth rate since early nineties..Your population growth rate have always exceeded ours since independence .The difference is only getting wider.

Your growth rate today is 4 % while ours is 7.3%-So you'll have a lot of catching up to do.And as I said before,we would not just sit and wait for you to catch up-Our gdp growth rate is only going to increase - due to massive investments in infrastructure, industrial corridors & industries.

2. HDI

Apart from HDI there are other indexes relating to quality of life where Pakistan is ahead

Literacy ? Hunger index ?
Poverty is reducing quickly in India

BTW As @Mr.Nair said...

india's kee sectors like steel, coal, cement productions

india's railway
india's road length
india's engineering/medical colleges
india's space sector
india's MNC's

Sports ( 4 hockey world cups , 2 cricket world cups

1 cricket world cup..And how many medals did you score in commonwealth games ? Olympics ?

Then divide everything by 1.3 billion to get the per capita and compare with Pakistan

Even if divided,Pakistan doesn't look good - compare exports,MNCs,space sector,railways
