It doesn't take much physical strength to fire a gun or to behead someone or for hundred momins to rape a captive woman. The probable reference to strength here is mental strength. I doubt that, he is making up stories,He must have got injured fighting on the battlefield his situation might have got worse so they sent him back to India with a mission to spread the ideology.
