Well, the issue is that there never was an "India" until the British came. India had always consisted of different kingdoms, religions and ethnic groups which is why the various cultural groups are so different from one another.

As long as the Taiwan issue is not resolved, China will not be wanting a war with India. I don't think China wants a war with India, period. It's just strategically pointless.

What China achieve by attacking India? Nothing. Strategically it kinda has reasonably good access to Indian ocean, through long standing allies like Pakistan and Myanmar. Soon Laos Thailand connection will open up Malacca even further.
