Is Gujarat's red hot economy a myth?

if there is shortage of power then howcome punjab gonna export electricity to pakistan thorugh wagah. electricity never goes off in amritsar. power com is shortage of funds but thats because of state policy of providing free electricity to farmers and too many newly installed street lightings that keep on litting even at daytime. once this is taken care of things will be fine

Cities are always spared from power cuts. In TN I heard there is 8 hour powercuts, but Chennai has only 2 hours. My state Kerala has half hours load shedding. Also AFAIK, the power exported to Pakistan is from private operators.

neither does power goes off in CHENNAI, can we say that TN is on top, come on mate non of the capitals are expreiancing power cuts, they are enjoying power at the cost of other places in the state. BUT on the other hand Gujarat, the total state has a 3 phase supply 24 * 7.

May be Gujrat economy did not grow much but export increased over all which had the net effect of increased income and development..what ever be the case..eye witness accord cannot be ignored.

People vote for the development they see around themselves, not some imaginary number.People could say million things about modi but not that he is a bad administrator.

Gujarat grew at 19.84,16.61,16.97,11.83,19.63 % in 2005-06,2006-07,2007-08,2008-09,2009-10 respectively in nominal terms ie nearly 10% in real terms except 2008-09.

6% figure is a product of frustrated mind.

Gujuratis have a strong entrepreneurial culture. Where there is money to be made..Gujuratis are there, not only in India but through out the world.

The ironic thing, is that if Modi became the Prime Minister of India, and applied the Gujarat model to other parts of the country, then India would be in a very strong economic position in the region. To the point where they might become an actual competitive threat to the Chinese economy.

But the Indians themselves (especially Congress) are sinking Modi and defaming him to the point where no one can even say his name without thinking of the Gujarat riots. Regardless of the fact that the Indian judicial system has not actually found him guilty of anything.

Why should we worry about economic competition from India, when they are keeping themselves down?

Normally I don't thank you, but I will make an exception this time.

Congress is rival party of BJP.It is job of congress to defame BJP.

Don't know how it could change?

I guess indian members here are going to storm all BBC correspondence offices in India....

1. I am no fan of Modi as Modi is myth, the progress if Gujarat is real and is not due to Modi.

2. This is a election year in Gujarat and in cheap politics all types of dirty news articles are publish.

1. Modi is a blue eye boy of Big corporates who controls the Media and thus Modi hype.

2. Modi is a friend of china thus enemy of India.

How could it change? :cheesy:

It has got to the point, where TV anchors in India are openly calling Modi a "mass murderer" on live television.

Even in the Western countries, that would be called libel and defamation, especially since the Indian judicial system has not found him guilty of anything. But in India, the Congress party lets them get away with anything as long as it is not about Sonia Gandhi.

That's the beauty of Indian political system :D
2014 will bring the change. Congress days are done. They need miracle to survive. It doesn't mean that BJP will win but congress will lose its 30% seats. The NE who gets it will make a government will help of others. So Modi will be first choice

Most of the journalist in our country are not the brightest bulbs. They vehemently need approval of some armchair intellectuals that have read nothing but das kapital in their life.

The worst part is that they treat fairy godmother and crown prince with a god like deference.Media in India is solely responsible for furthering of nepotism.

But the fact that congress let them get away with everything is faulty. It is the most oppressive government dealing with individual freedom that country has seen in recent times. It is just that Indian laws does allow it to become a Orwellian state.

Here is a gem from congress:

Rahul Gandhi aide drafts bill to gag media : North News - India Today

The truth is that modi is not a mass murderer as he is made out to be but a great part of miracle of gujarat is result of gujarat being an entrepreneurial state.Modi simply did not bungled his job.

Is Gujarat's red hot economy a myth !, so wants Congress us to believe. This article seems planted by the elements in Congress. The name Soutik Biswas sounds like leftist secularist (read anti Hindu)
