Taslima won her first fatwa after she wrote 'Lajja' (Shame in english). It's a book whose main theme is a Hindu family being persecuted by radical Muslims in BD. It's a true story too. Rest, since this thread is not about Taslima, I stop here. Buy the book and read it, worth a read.

No it was not a true story and let alone the quality of her writings specially in that book. When Muslims in India were cornered and massacred due to Babri Mosque dibacle, she came up with this book showing that Hindus are widely persecuted in Bangladesh for the same reason. Very sensitive moment for everybody in this subcontinent and she should had refrained herself mudding the water more for her own good. She is just a nonsense pathetic.

Indian Hindus do not hate M.F.Hussain. You know why, because with education, economic prosperity and jobs, we Indians have stopped believing in people or party who spread hatred in the name of religion. And yes, now you will dig up the internet and post posts about RSS etc. I and many other Indians here want this group to be banned and it's members punished in a court of law. But, what have you been doing lately with LeT et al? Giving them a free hand eh!

You will also do so, after say 10-20 years, and I actually wish it. In other words, when Pakistan stands firm on it's feet again, has a booming economy. Till that time, you can continue your rants.

One more advice, take a good look at yourself in the mirror for a long time, until you have found out the reasons for your limitless and nonsense bashing of Hindus unnecessarily in every thread, irrespective of what the thread is talking about.

Dude she was forced out of BD. She now lives in India, and calls Kolkata her 2nd home. And as about treatment, it's only a section of Muslim people who don't want her here in India.

I support her and so do majority of Indians. And above all, she is a good writer.

yes at the wrong time and in a wrong country where people shed their blood to protect their minorities in 1971. She did injustice to the people of Bangladesh. Saying so I dont rule out any sporadic non organised violence against minorities in 80's and early 90's.

NEW DELHI: India's eminent artist M.F. Husain, who has been under attack from Hindu fundamentalists for his paintings of Hindu goddesses and has been living in Dubai and London, has been given Qatar nationality, it was reported here on Thursday.

"I, the Indian origin painter M.F. Husain at 95, have been honoured by Qatar nationality," the celebrated artist wrote above a line sketch of a horse, the leitmotif of much of his work. The black and white drawing was carried by The Hindu newspaper.

In a signed article, The Hindu editor N. Ram wrote that the artist had given him the news from Dubai "by reading out the few lines he had written on a black-and-white line drawing that he released to The Hindu".

According to the report, Husain did not apply for the nationality but it was conferred on him at the instance of the emirate's ruling family.

Photographer, designer and activist Ram Rahman, who is close to the Husain family, responded to the news by saying: "The citizenship has been offered by the sheikha, the wife of the sheikh of Qatar, and it has several implications.

"On a personal note, I feel it is quite clear that the man who is 95 years old and cannot return to his country to die, there is no point of him remaining an Indian citizen."

"It would be a tragedy. He has not given up his Indian citizenship yet but if he decides to take up the Qatari offer, he will not remain an Indian citizen anymore. It is also a reflection of our legal system because the cases against him will drag on for 20-30 years.... so it is justified if he takes up the Qatari offer," Rahman told IANS.
