Iraqi forces 'launch major Kirkuk operation'

Huh? I thought Kurdistan is supported by US and NATO countries?

Nobody from west will support them. Yesterday terror organization tested violent protests in many European countries. Barzani made an alliance with the PKK.
I predict violent clashes in Europe with Pkk terrorists. Same in Turkey, but Turkey is alerted. You will see that soon SAA will also keep Syrias territorial integrity.

US Embassy: We support the peaceful reassertion of federal authority, consistent with the Iraqi Constitution, in all disputed areas."

As expected but better late than never. Arabs dealing with Kurds once again as usual. It is about high time to put the cloves on and deal with the problem like in the good old days. This problem must be dealt with in order to restore law and order pre-Daesh. I would even go further but that might not be realistic.

Operations in Diyala and Nineveh are a must. The border where Iraq, Syria and Turkey meet should also be liberated.

Cleaning ALL of Diyala and Nineveh should be on the agenda.

Insha'Allah SAA and the Syrian Arabs will deal with the Kurdish land grabbing and stealing in Syria soon as well.

Overall great news and wisely played out by Abadi.

@SubWater are you crying now, Kurd? A few weeks ago you were supporting Kurdish terrorists stealing historical Arab and Assyrian land in Iraq and Syria and now you have turned on the "Zionist disc" once your brothers began to escape from Kirkuk. You are quite a comedian! Never trust Iranians when it comes to internal Arab affairs. You have that in common with many Kurds BTW. No wonder that you are "cousins". However rest assured, we will deal with your likes as well as throughout most of history.

If you look at those revolts you see the first who wanted to introduce an ethnic Kurdish government was sheikh obeidollah and he was the result of devastating Russo Othman war that make a vaccine of power in the area and was a devastating incidence for the region . the rest were feudeals who only wanted some land for themselves.

#BREAKING - #Kurdish civilians in #Kirkuk thank #Iraqi forces for freeing them from #KDP, demand Iraqi Army goes to #Erbil

"I am Kurdi, from Slemania. finally free from Barzani's cronies. "I am Kurdi, from Slemania. God bless you guys"

He's free from backward tribal rule

Now we should appoint Sultan Ahmad Hashim Al-Tai governor of Kirkuk.

These are the results of the stupid American policies in the area. Baghdad and Damascus managed to convince Americans about the "evilness" of Sunni Arabs and instead of supporting the rebels they started to bomb them. These policies will lead to Iran(the only islamic state in the area that is not controlled by US)to strengthen its position and control at least three countries(Iraq, Syria and Lebanon).

It was at this statue a few weeks ago where a peshmerga commander threated baghdad that they would never take over Kirkuk :omghaha:

How many times do foreigners need to understand that Iran can never "control" a single Arab country let alone any Arabs as Arabs are a too proud and nationalistic people and moreover very few of us have a positive view of Iranians overall which is even the case in places like Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

One of the biggest insults that you can possibly make towards an Iraqi Shia Arab is to call him an Iranian. That should tell you something.

The exception here is Hezbollah but that is a proxy so understandable but once the Mullah regime in Iran ends, which eventually will happen, Hezbollah will not die (they will lose their most important backer) but local Shia South Lebanese will still support their fight against Israel (their main enemy). So even they and their movement will live on. I am not going to include the militias aligned to Tehran that are part of the PMU (in my eyes those groups are terrorist groups and moreover traitors but as long as they can be used to fight Daesh purely and not stir up any trouble - they can be tolerated for now) are totally outnumbered by nationalists among PMU that answer to Baghdad. Therefore I do not worry about them other than local infiltration in police force etc. as we have heard/seen evidence of in Diyala, unfortunately.

Even if we assume that there were such plans by all 3 governments to change the demographics of Northern and Eastern Syria and Western and Northern Iraq, this will simply fail.

Instead of writing nonsense understand that the Iraqi Arabs in and around Kirkuk and Northern Iraq in general are almost all exclusively Sunni Arabs. Moreover almost every single one of them (if not all) support the recent push in Kirkuk. Why? Because the Kurdish terrorists and land grabbers have stolen their land. Not the land of the Iraqi Shia Arab Basrawi or Najafi. Not only that this community is the most nationalistic community in Iraq which has something to do with the history of Iraq and who ruled/dominated the country since the foundation until 2003. This includes the military.

You are giving too much power to what is an essentially impoverished and sanctioned entity that is very much divided internally on numerous fronts. At the sight of a sign of war or when such a war starts, you will see that from up close. Fire crackers won't be helpful here. US/West scaremongering is a deliberate tactic. They used it against a crippled and sanctioned Iraq before 2003 as well. It's the same story.

Anyway there is no point discussing this here with foreigners. You were probably also "believing" that Daesh would conquer Baghdad back in 2014 or that they would establish a real country as locals were in love with them, LOL.

But the Kurdish issue has been there for decades and despite everything from even strongman Saddam, the issue has persisted. So I don't think it's an issue that can be solved only through military means.

Plus ISIS is being driven out in Iraq also thanks to western powers help and support to the Iraqi Army. So I don't know what you are on about.
No, it was peaceful from before the 1514 Chaldiran war, up until around 1900s and even then there wasn't a huge problem. The kurds was under Seljuk and then Ottomans.

Selim favoured the kurds against the Şia Türkmen which some favoured Şah İsmail which was a big mistake too.

Kurdistan was just a region name.

Iraq war made it 10x worse and this was intentional by USA. The

ICTS/ISOF are very experienced in urban warfare from Mosul and many other cities, PKK/Pesh have no chance in urban warfare either
But it will bog them down if it's turns into urban warfare and cause massive damage.

I think Iraq has to get rid of this problem once and for all and then have a new start. Take control of all those territories, clean up every terrorist group.

No it won't bog them down, PKK are not motivated to fight to death like IS despite all the nationalistic nonsense. Also all these civilians who raise arms will drop it and run away when they see a larger force. Anything that is to be faced in Kirkuk is far easier than what was faced before against IS.
