Iraq has called for enhanced cooperation with neighboring Iran in the area of air defense, days after Tehran successfully thwarted an American spying mission by downing a sophisticated surveillance drone over Iranian territorial waters.

Visiting Deputy Commander of the Iraqi Army Tariq Abbas Ibrahim Abdulhussein made the call during a meeting with Commander of the Iranian Army’s Air Defense Force, Brigadier General Alireza Sabahi-Fard, IRNA reported on Sunday, citing the Army’s Public Relations Office.

The Iraqi official pointed to the Islamic Republic’s advanced capability in designing and manufacturing defensive systems. Baghdad was requesting the cooperation “in the light of the previous instances of observation by Iraqi military delegations of Iran’s defensive capabilities,” he noted.

Such cooperation, he said, would encompass such areas as production, training, logistical support in various fields, including electronic warfare operations, radar operation, optical surveillance, command and control, radar calculations, and software.

Baghdad’s call came after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) shot down an American RQ-4 Global Hawk, which had violated Iran’s airspace from the south, in what has been viewed by observers as a show of Iran’s aerial defense capabilities.

Abdulhussein further said, “Enjoying religious commonalities and facing common enemies has aligned the countries.”

I think if Iran would ever consider exporting strategic assets like 3rd Khordad, it should be to Syria. There, Iran can learn a lot about its systems flaws and shortcomings in the face a very well trained foe.

So far, Iran is not really interested in escalating the situation in Syria vis a vis Israeli. When the day comes when Iran becomes interested in targeting Israeli air assets then we'll see these systems used in practice. These Israeli planes will fall like flies.

Remember the days when the Israelis were talking about directly striking Iran using their airforce :rofl:

@CamelGuy

Seems your hope is going true. Safavid cooperation

Maybe the gov is following my online posts and forming policy based on that.

But in all seriousness, Iraq's air defense has been labeled a priority in the defense sector and they have been granted a large budget to fill the long-range air defense need. They've been offered both HQ-9 from China and S-400 from Russia, they decided for the S-400 but American threats made the gov reluctant to go ahead with it. Since then it's been put on hold.

yes but its not the right time yet. The Syrian government still hasn't regained all its territory. once it does that and feels secure enough the next step is a MASSIVE escalartory strike on Israel to restore deterrence.

I suspect the Syrian government will wait for a Zionist strike, and immidiatly respond with a missile strike on tel aviv or something very significant that causes Zionist casualties.

after deterrence has been achieved, Iran will methodically beef up Syrian air defenses, create Hezbollah 2.0 on the Zionist border, and generally have a huge front with the Zionists with enormous strategic depth that makes southern Lebanon look like cakewalk.

Iran is a smart and methodical geopolitical actor. nothing like the zionsts have seen before with dumb arab leaders..

i do not know if Iran going to build an export version of Bavar_373 or not but Iran can surly export systems like Ra'ad 1 and Ra'ad 2 and Tabbas and Shalamche and Mehrab and 3th Khordad and Talash 2 and Talash 3 maybe even an export version of 15th Khordad after Bavar_373 becomes operational.

Iran would likely never turn over strategic assets to SAA as there is likely spies still within that army.

Strategic assets like that if ever deployed in syria would be under the command of IRGC and IRGC militias.

Do not look at Russia or China, these countries are military secure from imminent war or invasion as they hold nuclear weapons. Thus they can export some of their most sensitive technology while maintaining deterrence. However Iran needs these critical assets to be secert for deterrence and defense.

The second Syria deploys a B-373 battalion, Israel and US will start probing it with EW/ECW attacks and intrusion flights to gauge its strength and weaknesses.

Thus the export of these weapons is unwise till the chance of war or invasion is next to zero. Iran should be fully secure in the Middle East and relations with the West are fully normalized and Iran is integrated into world community.

That is literally the best thing that could happen. The best you could do for a defense product is the live test it in field to find weaknesses.

the Russian tactic is to actually export monkey models and keep a better version for themselves.

That way their enemies gets a false sense of security against Russian weaponry only to be in for a major shock when faced with the real deal.

Iran could also follow a similar model. but Iran's AD program is not as advanced as the Russians to have the luxury of building 2 models yet.

but all this is moot until the Syrian government takes physical control of its territory and restores deterrence. Israel strikes Syria at will. there is no way for Iran to develop any sort of air defense network under these conditions.

What Syria need is not Bavar or 3rd of khordad . they need a lot of short range system like pantsyr to protect its asset from israel Hit and Run strategy.

I don’t think so, even though some of the Iraqi officials are Iranian loyalists still Iraq is an ally of America.

Well , they need to counter attack .... Defensive measure are useless consider the distance between occupied Palestin and Syria ....
