Iraq claims to have caught Chinese ISIS jihadist; releases photos of battered man
PUBLISHED ON SEP 4, 2014 1:01 PM 2532 645 4 0

Iraqi Ministry of Defence/Iraq says it has captured an Islamic State militant from China, which would, if proven, make the man the first confirmed Chinese national to be found fighting for the extremist Sunni militant group. -- PHOTO: IRAQI MINISTRY OF DEFENCE

IRAQ'S Ministry of Defence has claimed to have captured a Chinese national fighting for the extremist Sunni militant group, Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and posted two photos of an East Asian-looking man with a battered face on its Facebook page.

A short message accompanying the photos that were put up on Monday called the man a "Chinese daash" - daash being an acronym for ISIS.

If the indentity of the man and the authenticity of the images are validated, this could be the first confirmed case of a Chinese ISIS fighter, the South China Morning Post reported.

Mr Wu Sike, China's special envoy to the Middle East, has previously said that an estimated 100 Chinese citizens - mostly Muslim Uighurs from China's remote western region of Xinjiang - may be fighting for ISIS.

The Chinese embassy in Iraq declined to comment on the photos, while the Iraqi government and Chinese foreign ministry have not responded to interview requests from the Post.

Earlier, the US State Department said some 12,000 foreign jihadists from 50 countries have gone to fight in Syria since the conflict began more than three years ago.

In Austria, the authorities said they suspect about 130 residents - most of them foreign nationals - have allied themselves with Islamist militants fighting abroad.

In Asia, Singapore said in July it is aware of two Singaporeans fighting in Syria with their families.

Malaysia has held 19 ISIS-inspired militants who allegedly planned to bomb pubs, discos and a Malaysian brewery of beer producer Carlsberg. They wanted to establish a hardline Islamic caliphate spanning Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore, said police.

Three Malaysian women had also reportedly travelled to the Middle East in a so-called "sexual jihad" to act as "comfort women" for ISIS fighters.

Indonesia, the world's biggest Muslim-majority nation, estimates that 60 of its citizens have joined the fighting.

As many as 150 Australians are also said to be fighting alongside ISIS overseas, including at least one Sydney man and his young son who have posed for photos with a severed head.

ISIS has carried out beheadings, crucifixions and public stonings in areas under its control in Iraq and neighbouring north-eastern Syria, where it has declared an Islamic "caliphate".

Videos that have emerged since August 19 showing the militants beheading American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff have enraged world leaders, with US President Barack Obama vowing to "degrade and destroy" the group.

This is indeed disturbing.last time it was a japanese man that was caught/killed. Seems ISIS has managed to draw in many muslim fanatics/stupid to join in their fight against infidels/establishing a caliphate. They seem to be even more dangerous/effective than al Qaeda. Guess reports uygurs terrorists are training/operating in pakistan tribal regions, fighting in syria and Afghanistan weren't wrong. I still dont understand why our governments tend to support these terrorists uygurs when they kill stab/massacre people in China, they call them 'terrorists' 'rioters' . :disagree:Thing the international community has to unite against these scums and send them to heaven where they can meet their virgins.:disagree:

Mike ,it's all about regime change trust me. All the rest is merely propaganda for the braindead masses.

US seeks regime change in Syria, Iraq.

Daniel Patrick Welch, a political commentator, says the United States is seeking “a regime change” in both Iraq and Syria.

“The US would like to have a regime change in both countries,” Welch told Press TV on Tuesday.

He made the remarks when asked about a report that a US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) is fighting the ISIL terrorist group over a key supply route.

The FSA is currently battling the ISIL group in north of Aleppo, Syria. In the meantime, the Obama administration is trying to devise a strategy to deal with a force that US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel says is “beyond anything we have ever seen.”

Welch said it is difficult to discuss any reports which are published by US media outlets. “It’s kind of hard to comment on stories from within the US propaganda machines.”

He went on to say that “it’s kind of like a narrative they’re trying to spin, so these kinds of stories talk all about the infighting and how FSA, the moderate rebels, are mad about the diversion of resources”.

The analyst said “the whole thing is a very cleverly designed fiction, the whole idea of the moderate rebel is a myth by design and came up because, the people that the CIA and [its] allies were using, the head-choppers and heart-eaters were too gruesome for world opinion to apply.”

Welch added, “So they kept coming up for domestic political consumption and for world opinion this idea of moderate rebels.”
He stated that ISIL “is a creation of the West and it’s trying to use it as kind of a backdoor to intervention on the ground in Syria which they have not been able to achieve until now.”

What do the chinese have to say about their relationship with the middle east dictatorships who are funding these head hunting animals? I know oil is important. But dont you feel at some point you will have to do something about these terrorist supporting despots and their fiefdoms ? ( i cant call them countries because they arent, they are personal slave states of the very wealthy turbin wearers)

If Langley Virginia and Riyadh Arabia were nuked from the face of this earth, the world and all its people would be that much better for it. These should be the targets. The real targets all freedom fighters should aspire to destroy.

We will need to wait until at least 2030 when we can be "mostly" self-sufficient in terms of resources, mostly using renewable energy, but also our Shale Gas reserves (which are the largest in the world, enough to last thousands of years).

China could meet its energy needs by wind alone by 2030 | Harvard Gazette

That, combined with pipelines from Russia and Central Asia, and more efficient technology by 2030, should be enough.

As for this ISIS fighter that is supposedly a Chinese national, I hope the Iraqi authorities smash his skull open with a sledgehammer. He is not welcome back to China for damn sure.
