What's new

Iran's Infrastructure projects...

how long is the Sanandaj-Tehran train journey, how fast do the trains travel and what is the cost of the fare?

I guess 5-7 hours, not very fast, and very cheap
according to ali-baba its 8 hours and 10 minutes and the price is 210000 toman (around 4$)

but the road has one problem the train only available on Fridays and Tuesdays . the route don't work on other days . hope at least cargo train works on other days

twice a week is pitiful, for 8 hour journey it should be at least every day

and 8 hours suggests the train is very very slow (maybe even slower than British trains)

part of it is in mountain area wonder if it has some contribution to the slowness
its 50-60 km

another thing that come to mind is that the route is new , they usually move slower on new route at beginning later they increase the speed at least it was the case when they first started shiraz route

more trains is always good thing but 8 hours limits economic impact for workers and internal tourism etc

Iran badly needs high speed rail like China / Japan, they have similar terrain and even bigger distances. problem of course is investment / funds, why MAPNA can't do it ?

one need a lot of energy for that, so we have to wait some years till more powerplants are online.

Iran has a very good situation with power plants, lots of new ones every year adding huge amounts of electricity production capability

Isfahan_Shiraz freeway
Personal note: I traveled shiraz-Tehran road twice a month for two years and wished it was a divided highway..it took 43 years for it to happen..never too late..lol
It has been many years that a divided highway built between Isfahan and shiraz.

This project is a freeway and was built in addition to the highway.

Iran is comparable to Germany in Asia
Their engineering mindset , is in line with Modern Engineering principles

In Pakistan the civilian projects rely heavily on loose Engineering Practice , with large demographic without engineering Training , just basic laborer

Often uneducated Labor class is with no engineering equipment working with limited equipment , that is why our project quality does not matches the clean work done in Iran on Infrastructure
Large % of workers are uneducated laborer no knowledge of Engineering

Great finishing on roads and buildings however on Iranian Engineering Side

Iran could afford to be less modern international standard-style imo. But pressure upon it means it's all ok I guess.
