TEHRAN – Iran’s first shipments of crude oil since the lifting of sanctions two weeks ago departed from the country’s main oil terminal for Japan and China on Wednesday, according to an official of the Iranian oil ministry.

Each of the tankers is carrying around 2 million barrels of crude, which is worth about $66 million, according to a source in the ministry.

Iran is aiming to boost its crude oil exports to Japan from 110,000 barrels per day during the sanctions to about 300,000, Iran State News Agency reported.

“Japan has been Iran’s loyal customer and we are willing to expand economic ties,” the ministry official said.

International sanctions against the Persian Gulf nation were lifted about two weeks ago under a historic nuclear deal reached last summer.

Under restrictive sanctions, Iran was only allowed to sell a fraction of its crude oil production, and international insurers were banned from providing protection and indemnity coverage to vessels carrying Iranian crude, which severely damaged the country’s economy.

Meanwhile in Saudi Arabia, oil prices continues to hamper their economy. O well..what can we do? The more suppliers, the less dependence on Riyadh. @Daneshmand

Ultimately, the less indirect funding of takfiri ideation abroad....

That should be the goal. The world is awakening to real danger of Takfirism and realize the fake propaganda against Iran is just that: https://defence.pk/threads/saudi-arabia-is-a-far-worse-threat-than-iran.420097/

Saudi Arabia is just a used and burnt proxy force way past its expiry date: https://defence.pk/threads/an-ontol...sh-sneeze-to-abdullahs-fear-of-snakes.419673/

It is unfortunate , really, to see the condition of their oil exports, and at the same time having to accept the primacy and rise of Iranian industrial prowess. Now, even more so, that the international sanctions have been lifted from Tehran. :)

Yes. By and large, their worry should not be Iran at all. Their worry should be their internal inefficiency and stagnant socio-political structure. With time, their problems will only grow out of proportion. And since oil prices are low, they will not even be able to buy off people's loyalty by subsidizing their lifestyle. On top of all this, they are fighting an expensive war in Yemen. They could not have imagined any worse scenario for themselves just a few years ago.

Thank you dear!
