What's new

IRANS ANCIENT PAST.

There are so many people in iran like me, the youngsters of iran are starting to go back to their own roots and stay away from this religion

that is fine, but there is no need to get angry, and also there is no any statistics to show us what the ground reality is. resenting mullahs is not the same as rejecting religion.

I said already there is nothing wrong with there being muslims in iran, but do you have any idea how iran government treats you if you're not a muslim? they threaten to kill you, my brother was kicked out of uni just because of his stance against them, and they threatened to kill my family and we came to the uk..so how can you say dont be angry? islamic iran is ruining our culture.

I agree with you that many very young people are like you in Iran... well of course depending what is the social background as well

But i wouldn't say half Iranians are thinking like this
Anyway even Khomeiny said that if the parents choose the Islamic republic it doesn't mean the next generation wants it and that it should be asked to them if they want it
First let's hope one day we have not cheated elections and why not asking people about keeping or not the islamic republic like it is now

Myself i just give my very personal opinion:
If we keep the Islamic republic then we must totally delete the position of leader and give power to a president directly named by people and his prime minister named by the president but confirmed by the parliament
the leader having tooo much power in Iran and that is one reason of all problems we have

Nicely said brother, but i promise you the most important thing should be for our people not those leaders who are sucking the country, they are hiding the true iran from us. our people want freedom but they will not get it from this islamic state, imagine an iran where all religion are respected and our own culture is valued much more than an arabic culture.

you dont have to tell me abut eh stupidity of mullah, that is not what i am arguing with you.

.
It is a valid point. Even though you can discuss here, whether Iran should be Islamic republic or not, such a choice can only be made by Irani people. As for as I am concerned. state and religion should not mix.

.
iranians in iran seem to like it.

it's the iranians that fled iran that keep moaning about iran's current state.

.
I have great respect for Iranian Civilization but not for current Iranian Govt. May the Iranians have the good sense of kicking the Mullahs out and reclaim their old glory.

.
that's fine harpoon. i wouldnt want to live under such a government either.

but it's nothing to do with you. it's up to iranians that are citizens of that country to vote out people, or vote them in. if they want total revolution that's their choice, and noone elses to make. it can be done as the egypt uprising showed.

1. The mullahs came to power through force...not elections. One cannot say that the supreme leader can be "voted" out.
2. Religious leaders are very hard to overthrow....Since religion is extremely personal to people, one tends not to go against religion. Hence an egyp type revolution is not possible in Iran. Only through strong elected leadership and robust economic development can a politician wrest power to challenge religious leaders. As of now, the Church and State are part and participle of Iranian politics and not changing anytime soon....

PS: My parents always fondly mention the Iran of the Shah era. It was a progressive, liberal state that became the envy of the region.
Of course not to mention how beautiful the Iranian people are....Any Sarah Shahi fans here?

^^^

She looks more Spanish than Iranian... but then again, she does have a Spanish Mother.

.
After see girls of different nationalities, it is hard to beat Persian girls. They are just perfect - beautiful and more importantly confident.

yeah better you get some knowledge before you claim to be an expert of our country

1/ mullah is a religious person. mullah doesn't mean someone in political position
my grand father was a mullah and he is loved by the people because he always spent his life to help
he finished his life terribly poor because he didn't feel religion would be make money
today it changed for some of them BUT NOT ALL mullahs

1/ it was a referendum that people choosed
so better you get some knowledge
it is an election for the president BUT ;..
at khatami time we were so many to go for vote that khamenei couldn't do anything
the fact is that he choosed to organiza cheat by controlling the organs that would make him choose who is the president and be able to cheat the elections

2/ it is not only about some religious in power
about it the grand ayatollahs the most known and followed ... like Montazeri.. wanted a change
many of the religious figures i know are pro green. some not some yes.
so stop thinking religious is a hell
no it is like any dictatorship led by a guy. religion is a tool . when you see how they are corrupted , they didn't respect the basics our morality teached by our religion, i cannot understand how we can name this republic "islamic republic"

anyway i believe like Khomeiny said himself at the beginning: economy for specialists, and so on. religious only care about religion. the bad point is that there was a leader that he can see the morality in any law... from morality it became the power

your parents appreciated the shah. yes economy was good but this guy was a dictator. never heard about savak?
he didn't want democracy : you can even read it from a royalist writer "Nahavandi" who is living in France

anyway you can be beautiful and stupid. what's the matter with being beautiful to speak about civilization?
lol

Yeah such a progressive and liberal days were they, killing intellectuals like Shariati.

Hahaha,

Persian God King,

So childish. I never said that Iran did not have a history before Islam. I said, that history is no more greater than Greek, Egypt, China, Roman, Indian and African history. Go check my comments. You run away from that argument in the other thread by a personal attack on me. You have to understand that despite the ancient roots of Iran, the world does not revolve around you. People respect you for what you are and not for what you were. A very tiny minority of Iranians think because there were glories in their pre-Islam history, then this gives them the right to abuse every one else. This minority also thinks that their race is above every one else and even religion of God. This ultra-nationalists in Iran are racist people who have nothing to offer to the world except their arrogance and praise for a dreamed up past. They are no more different than Nazis and that is why this minority had good relations with Hitler's regime in 1930's. I believe this minority is a shame for great Iranian culture and history and should be shunned not only by Iranians but also by foreigners. You can go on and introduce ancient Iranian culture and surely we are going to enjoy and learn but not even for a second think that you are superior to anyone else or your ideology superior to Islam. That is the point of contention here.
