Since it seems certain members strayed away from proper criticism/discussion and ventured into abuse i've decided to recreate the thread as the Iranian statements/actions recently are quite significant in deciding where Iran's stance lies in regards to Afghanistan. I hope that people do not go out sending abuse, your opinion is fine and all however if it starts breaking certain rules then problems do arise.

Also i'd like to point out that Tehran Times is indeed a state newspaper and a government mouthpiece meaning their statements reflect their governments official position.

Here is a bit of Background though regarding Iranian responses:

. . .
Certain members may be asking why such provocative statements/actions are being observed from Iran and why now? There are several hypothesis on it such as Iran's feeling that it is being sidelined as it is not receiving as what it perceives as enough of a strategic benefit from what Pakistan is trying to do in the region. Compound this with Pakistan's diplomatic meetings with several foreign dignitaries and interacting with them to put forward their case for the future of Afghanistan and Pakistan's role in how they can help, especially the contact with Saudi Arabia and UAE. Thus, you can see Iran airing their frustrations via deniable yet public ways.

. .
Iran just sucked on pretty sour grapes. They invested a lot on Panjshiris to get a piece of pie in latest govt. Taliban seem to be in no mood to accommodate spoilers sucks for Iran i guess. Unfortunately this will mean end of chah bahar port as Taliban are clearly leaning toward Pakistan. Iran could become a major spoiler in Afghanistan by sponsoring Tajik insurgency in future.

the guy who captured pankkuttay was a tajik or a farsiban. talk about rubbing salt on the wounds.

they can protest 20 years
Keeping true to themselves they will try to spark shia vs sunni situation in Afghanistan. We might see Fatimyoon brigade in action very soon. Taliban being sunni idealists are the worst nightmare for Mullahs of Iran. There is no way Iran can swallow a purely sunni govt in Afghanistan.

There are plenty of Tajiks amongst Taliban. It is a Problem of Shias vs Sunnis and Taliban being sunni hardliner are a heartache for Iranis.

This should give Pakistan a clue about what iran thinks and wants. Their role in Afghanistan is eliminated and that is why they are showing frustration.
Iran have been supporting elements against Pakistan but now with taliban bordering them, it will act as a stick, to keep the mischievous mullahs in check.

Good post.
I'd be very surprised if Pakistan and Iran are going to be on the opposing sides. There had been a lot of discussions between Pakistan and Afghanistan's neighbors in the last few years. BUT if still Pakistan and Iran are going to be not on friendly terms to fight over a miserable country like Afghanistan then it just shows that 3rd world countries 'leadership' is only good for meetings for Chai and Biscuits!

Let's wait and see what's going to happen over the next some days. But I am hopeful there is no major issue. Also, don't forget Indians (and their agents) not just in Afghanistan but in several countries adding to disinformation and creating misunderstandings.

Pakistan has no hand in Afghanistan fight or fall of Kabul and Panjshir. It's said many a times and clearly stated recently. Despite of too many rivals and anti parties, no one could prove such accusations at all. Still, if someone wants to ignite a conspiracy fire to influence, Pakistan will happily watch that concern jumping off the cliff. Few extremists in Iran should learn for good. Hopefully, Iranian government will bring atta kers to justice and assure that it wouldn't happen again. Not everything can be brushed under the carpet like that. It's malicious and defamation against Pakistan.
