I guess it's the already unveiled damavand warship!

It's maybe under upgrade programme or a new piece of damavand being built!

No way is that Damavand... Damavand is already.in service, that ship doesn't even have it's 76 mm gun.

This is what they looked like 2 years ago! The progress was slow in 2016..... The head of Iran's Navy kinda got in trouble for it too (Privately nothing public)! They are building new ports too so a lot of the budget may have gone towards that, maintenance & upgrade of older ships!

ALCON,

The link/coordinates from that Russian forum lead to the Bostanu shipyards, as does the image.

Odd thing is, this image from the Russian site is NOT from GE so it likely from a commercial satellite. That section of Bostanu's shipyard hasn't shown any vessels of this configuration going back at least 3-4 years. However, there is a large building visible in that image that looks to be big enough to assembly a light frigate like the Mowj-class without prying eyes. It's likely the Russian footage is newer than the GE imagery (November 2016).

After studying the image, it does appear to be a Mowj-class, akin to the Jamaran and Damavand in vessel design. This suggests that while the Sahand is the first of a new sub-class of frigates, at least one more hull will be launched that is similar to the earlier Jamaran/Damavand in configuration.

Also of interest, one of Iran's existing Alvand's is going through some form of overhaul at Bandar Abbas, along with one of the Kilo-class submarines. Both appeared in dry dock sometime between 12-14 September 2016. This Alvand was previously moored nearby and had no AshM launch boxes before she entered dry dock. Best guess, is the Sabalan (73). Oddly, this same vessel was in one of Iran's floating docks from 19 June - 14 July 2016 also at Bandar Abbas. Looks like the Sabalan's AshMs were removed back in the fall of 2015 and have been absent ever since.

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan has unveiled a marine outboard gasoline engine dubbed Tous through an official ceremony in Tehran.

Addressing the ceremony on Tuesday, Dehqan said the marine engine was totally designed and manufactured by Iranian experts, adding that the propulsion system was one of the most important parts of vessels.

Iran’s Defense Ministry, Navy and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ (IRGC) Naval Forces have put the design and manufacture of marine propellers on their agenda as part of efforts to make greater use of maritime resources, which can help national development, the minister said, noting that the Tous marine engine was one of the most valuable achievements made in this regard.

The defense minister noted that the 200-horsepower engine can provide speeds of up to 41 knot (almost 74 kilometers per hour) for vessels.

Dehqan further stressed the importance of using nuclear energy to develop the country’s naval industry, including in the production of marine propellers.

“In the field of marine advances, particularly in the sector of large vessels, we should use nuclear technology to develop marine propellers,” he said, adding that the country must also move toward reducing the environmental impacts of marine engines.

In December 2016, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani ordered the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) to draw up appropriate plans to design and manufacture nuclear propulsion devices as well as the fuel required for them in response to the US violation of the landmark nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries in 2015.

The president said the measures were warranted in light of the United States’ foot-dragging in fulfilling its commitments under the multilateral nuclear deal - known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) -- and the extension of an anti-Iran legislation in the US Congress known as the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA).
