Iranian ambassador meets COAS, appreciates operation Radd-ul-Fasaad

RAWALPINDI: Mehdi Honardoost, Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday.

Matters of regional security and mutual interest were discussed. The visiting dignitary acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army's contributions towards regional peace and stability.

He also expressed his appreciation for ongoing Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad for elimination of terrorism from Pakistan.

While thanking the Ambassador, COAS said that Pakistan Army greatly values historical relationship between the two brotherly countries which can never be compromised on any cost.

He said that enhanced Pak-Iran bilateral military to military cooperation will have positive impact on regional peace and stability.

While the politicians have only got panama to worry about the world is moving at such speed in realignment policies for the coming future. Sad to see that foreign policy is all being handled by military and not politicians. but the illiterate politicians have no clue about these things anyway.

Pakistani foreign policy has always been in the hands of Military. To some extend it is a good policy and has helped to form better alliances and give foreign entities less chance to put their nose in the democratic system.

I wouldn't take the ECO as seriously as it was made out to be in my humble opinion its was a merry gathering with plenty of camera flashes and video for the archives.

Pakistan's relation with Iran is at minimum. politically, economically, militarily.
It's like two neighbors who just know each other and once a while have a small chat.
nothing more.

even Turkey which is engaged in a proxy war with Iran has better economic relations with Iran.

Well if ECO was not serious it would had only foreign ministers not the head of States. Currently Erdogan and Rohani are 2 opposite that stood together in ECO and they have resumed the talks on Syria again because of ECO. I think the end to Syrian war will strength the ECO as it will bring Turkey closer to Iran.

Not only our ambassador, but all of Iranians want safe and stable Pakistan. And the operation of Raad al-fasad is very welcome.
About Pak's policy, i hope so

I wouldn't take the ECO as seriously as it was made out to be in my humble opinion its was a merry gathering with plenty of camera flashes and video for the archives.

True, i feel the same about ECO. But it can get improved by more political will from all sides.
Developing pipelines like TAPI, IP or other industrial infrastructures can lead to an strong economical cooperations between ECO members.

The reason is PGCC countries. However Iran is the best option for Pakistan's economists.
There are many Leverages from royal families on Pakistan like Pak's workers in PGCC countries. You know, they can always threaten Pakistan of expelling them, the same about Egypt. I don't blame Pak, they did the best not to join the coalitions against Yemen and Syria.
Generally i believe we can improve Pak's economy with our oil ad gas better than PGCC countries if Pak wants so.

Well I see the opposite at this point Iran is showing most on the diplomatic front in Pakistan in the recent events in this month alone. Regarding Turkey, Iran if the things were so straight between Iran and Turkey they would not have been meeting in Astana under Russia rather they would have solved the situation among them selves

Turkey is a NATO member bro. I appreciate your brotherly advice but negotiating with Turkey means you are negotiating with a NATO member. They always put USA-west's benefits between their demands during the negotiations. In the meantime During the Astana negotiations, Turkey asked Russia to invite USA for negotiations!!! That says it all. I am not protesting against USA's presence in those negotiations but as you know USA is a part of the problem in Syria, and never can offer a solution for Syrian crisis. USA means Israel and that was why Iran disagreed with Turkey's demand over USA's presence.

Keeping positive is a good step and hopefully it can blossom into something great.

There are two factors to this situation, one India is getting close to GCC and USA so that made Iran extend to Pakistan and at the same time it gave Pakistan reason to get closer to Iran. Now the Pakistani stance on Yemen and Syria has was the reason in Irani shift definitely but Pakistan's opposition on US policy in Afghanistan was the most major reason for Russia and Iran turning to Pakistan.

I would like to see the same happen but how many things go pear shaped we all know the answer.

I am looking at it with different way the success of ECO is a necessity now for all. Pakistan is an agricultural economy mostly and making Urea from LNG is expensive from QATAR and it is cheaper from pipe line from Iran if we want to compete in the international market we have to bring our costs down to get the country on the right path.

Turkey and Germany are at the moment fighting the worst war of words and Turkeys future is merky in NATO and Russia is pushing for closer relations with Turkey.
