Iran's government was new then and had re-develop its military capability. Iran is capable of sending any military vessel, without qualification, to the bottom of the Persian Gulf today.
IRIAF said:MIG-29 is very good fighter for our purposes. we use these fighters with our tactics not with west tactics. kind of fighter is important but strategy and tactic is more important.
Operation Praying Matis happened in 1987, when Iranian Weaponry was still state of the art.
Now all the western weaponry Iran posses are obsolete and no one has verified the capabilities of Iran's indigenous weaponry.
I highly doubt that Iran can send any US Warship to the bottom of the Gulf.
If China fears the US Navy, then who the heck is Iran to challenge the US Navy.
Fantasys can happen , its used by the government trying to show you are stronger than what you are. I remember Iraq , people thought they was so strong but their quantity and propoganda was nothing.
I got it correctly?
Iran upgrades 100 MiG 29 fighter jets
but ,
there are no 100 mig-29
Bad argument. The reason why the old B-52 is still effective is because its replacements/superiors belongs to the same side that created it, in other words, a weapon is only as useful as its adversaries will allow it to be. The rifle surpassed and supplanted the sling, the arrow and the spear, but the AK-47 remains despite the M-16. Why? Because both rifles shares the same basic technology and 'design for purpose', whereas the single shot sniper rifle came from the old single shot utility rifle and while are still useful, its usage is relegated to a very narrow niche in the military. This is what you don't understand about aviation and aircraft....think this way, the B-52s are obsolete but still effective today.
Doesnt Iran classify one of its frigate/corvettes as a Destroyer?
you can ask your Navy ,those planes fly on daily bases over the Persian Gulf. When was the last time someone saw an iranian F-14 in the air ?
