Iran isn't worried. Whatever the US thinks it can do, it will have to deal with 80 million Iranians on the ground. Iran isn't Iraq. Iran isn't Afghanistan. Iran is Iran. Iran has shown it will fight a ten year / million man war even if attacked by chemical weapons.

Why didn't you guys fight a 10 year war when the US Navy attacked you in Operation Praying Mantis.

Iraq attacked you guys trying to annex your land so you had every right to fight back and take back the land that was yours. So that is different that confronting USA.

That is not the question, the US can not win a ground war against Iran by any means, the question is air superiority that the whole western war strategy is based on, Iran had to get the S-300 system. But the good news is that it has succeeded in developing the Bavar-373 (Bavar 373 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
There is also the S-200s and the Iranian made Sayyad2.
So the question now is the quantity of these systems needed to deter any aerial attack. And I think that Iran is producing the required quantities as for now.
Navy wise Iran has full control of the strait of Hormuz which is the real and most potent weapon in Iranian hands, closing it, will send world economy to stone age, and will bring the west to its knees.
Iran will be victorious anyhow, with war(if imposed God forbid) or without.

Iran is to be hailed for it current capacity of overhauling very complex systems, be it eastern or western ones, and its capacity to produce sophisticated weapon systems on its own, not to forget it socio-economic programs and scientific achievements.

At that time Iraq was fighting Americans not Israelis. Upgraded Mig29s can easily take on any Israeli f16. But Russian wouldn't upgrade these fighters owing to american pressure.

I support this idea, and I think most people in the Muslim world do as well. The problem, as Ottoman-Turk has highlighted, is that most of them including Ottoman-Turk is drowned in their nationalistic bias. That means, even if Muslims unite, they must remain separate according to their current political boundaries, and only one of these political entities/countries can lead the rest of the independent countries. That would never work, and that's what Ottoman-Turk has also said.

Muslims must refrain from thinking along petty nationalistic lines.

You absolutely seem to have no idea of modern wars , this aint Iran-Iraq or WW2 trench wars . In 21st century and even in Arab-Israeli and other wars Air superiority is the main and most important thing , after you get air supremacy then bad luck to the enemy , because he can shoot absolutely everything you have in the ground , would you want to be on the ground or in the air on a jet looking down with bombs ? Plus remember having air defence doesnt mean you going to shoot every jet.

Im not american , im TURKISH and mig 29 and tomcats are old , especially tomcats these days are obsolete , i dont know about mig29 but you have like 40 or less . The thing you dont understand is Iraq and others also boasted about these , when you have air defence you just dont shoot down jets that easily , jets have missiles with very long range that will shoot down the air defence.

Tomcats are old and rubbish they can be downed easily with modern jets and their missiles.

This may not be true. American carriers usually transport F-18 fighters, which are relatively worse dogfighters than let's say F-16 E/F. They'll need at least 6 carrier battle groups + ground/logistical bases/air bases in neighbouring countries+spy satellite imagery+... other factors.

Iran could flatten Western bases in the region with a continuous salvo of ballistic missiles from various parts of Iran, from its length and breadth. Also, many regions in the West and North of Iran are mountainous, I think, which make for good fortifications against air campaigns. Ballistic missiles in silos all over Iran, including in mountainous regions, or elsewhere, and road mobile ballistic missiles could negate all conventional American forces on land in quick time. As for their aircraft carriers, it remains to be seen if Fateh-110 and its derivative Khalij e Fars could sink aircraft carriers (with multiple hits, if needed). In fact, they may not need to sink carriers, putting them out of action would be enough for USA to withdraw tamely, but if Iran can successfully sink the carriers, Iranian commanders would not be complaining.

USA can still use nuclear bombs, and the fact is, except for massive protests and condemnations, nothing else would change. Nobody is going to nuke USA in return. That is something Iran should definitely work on, and I am not sure why Iran keeps dillydallying with its ICBM and thermonuclear weapons projects. IMO, they should actively develop, mass-produce and deploy these systems to avoid any evil Western acts of terrorism and invasion.

Iraq had powerful Air Force , but IRIAF created fantastic tactics in that war. do you know USA,france,USSR,England,Saudi arabia, qatar and other countries helped iraq? IRIAF defeated all of them and all of their tactics. SA help iraq with its awacs. france worked on tomca`s Weaknesses and ... . we learned that we must create our tactics with our weopens. at now We can change our tactics easily. we have strong air defence force in the world with our tactics. USA knows it. of course USA has powerful air force, but does USA fight with a independent airforce?
IRIAF knows USA air force capabilities, but IRIAF has sufficient time to be ready.
MIG-29 is very good fighter for our purposes. we use these fighters with our tactics not with west tactics. kind of fighter is important but strategy and tactic is more important.

Iran's government was new then and had re-develop its military capability. Iran is capable of sending any military vessel, without qualification, to the bottom of the Persian Gulf today.

Firing missiles in other countries soil will mean Iran will be in deep , deep trouble it cant get up for atleast 20 years to its current position . American Jets are not going to just go into iran and drop bombs , before there will be massive cruise missile and other missiles from ships and other places , what is iran going to do ? shoot the missiles? after they destroy their anti-aa then hundreds of jets will be flying. Please lets not make it funny , i remember saddam was saying very fantasy things aswell , irans airforce is obsolete , their only bet would be missiles against american ships .
