New generation of Zolfaqar, Samsam tanks unveiled

Tehran, Feb 4, IRNA – New generation of advanced Zolfaqar and Samsam tanks was unveiled by Commander of Armyˈs Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan on Monday.

A group of army commanders and high-ranking military officials were present in the unveiling ceremony.

The ceremony was held on the occasion of the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn) period starting with the anniversary of the historic return of the late Imam Khomeini to the country from exile on February 1, 1979 and ends with the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

Zolfaqar and Samsam tanks have been optimized by skilled Iranian engineers.

The new paint job on the M60 looks deadly. If there is one tank I know like the back of my hand it is the M60. Been seeing it everyday for the past 3 years.

The unveiling process in Iran is really amazing. First they unveil the project when it starts,after that the prototype and then when it is finished and finally when it is ready for mass production.
Z3 wasn't unveiled before. They had shown the prototype on tank carrier in the parades. Now the project is finished and they finally unveiled the Tank. IRINN also showed the tank firing wile moving.

yes.however sometimes they unveil important things suddenly when they are under pressure or a war is likely.they unveiled missiles or air defence systems like this.

about Samsam ... It using EFCS 3 fire control system ... this is its main different with M60 ....

So it is not a new tank, just some M60s taken out of storage and given a Slovenian fire control system. Not denying it is an upgrade but it should not be publicized as a "New indigiounsly made Tank".

We also upgraded our M60s indigenously but we didn't give it a new name and claimed it was a new tank.
