It is well-known that Iran is among the countries with heavy water production facilities. However I was not aware that facilities are large enough for export. Heavy water is mostly exported by Canada.

I think, its also to do with the shutdown of their Arak reactor. They now have stock which is excess, since Arak was supposed to be using that heavy water.

No idea on what process they use.

Just for the info Pakistan is also one of the countries with Heavy Water production facilities but barely sufficient for our own requirements.

the replacement for arak also use heavy water reactor . we built those facilities when we wanted to made several heavy water reactor like arak now we build one heavy water reactor and several light water one so its not strange that there'll be some extra.
