Iran to construct large Persian Gulf Bridge

Seven foreign and domestic firms participated in the construction bid of the large Persian Gulf Bridge.
The Bridge is due to connect the Persian Gulf Island Qeshm and Bandar Abbas city, southern Iran with the length of 1500 nautical miles in order to facilitate goods transportation between the two areas.
Managing Director of Qeshm Free Trade Zone Sayyed Reza Mousavi said the discount sale files of the bridge will present to the public until Sep 21, 2010 adding," The winner of the bid will specify till Jan 21, 2011 and it will declare the time of construction of the bridge."
Mousavi said that 650 million euros are needed for the construction of the bridge adding," The government will provide 15 percent financial resources of the project."

Persian Gulf Bridge Approved
The Cabinet has approved a comprehensive transportation plan with a focus on the construction of Persian Gulf Bridge.
According to ECO News, the plan is to attract foreign investment in order to complete the construction of the bridge.
After 36 years delay, the national project for constructing Persian Gulf Bridge in order to create a connection between Qeshm Island and its main district will come into force in collaboration with Austrian experts.
Australians have announced their readiness to take the responsibility for constructing the bridge.
Evaluating the relationship between the two countries in the course of history, Dr. Werner Fasslabend, member of the National Assembly of Austria and head of Iran-Austria Friendship Association described earlier Iran's strategic situation in a geopolitical sense unique in the world and explained about the vast cooperation of Iran and Austria in fields of energy and announced the readiness of his country to expand these interactions by undertaking the project for constructing the Persian Gulf Bridge.
"In addition to Persian Gulf Bridge, Austria is also interested in cooperating with Iran in other economic fields such as oil industry," he added.
