Iran's new ballistic missile is capable of carrying several warheads and of reaching much of the Middle East

Iran has successfully tested a new ballistic missile with a range of 2,000 km (1,200 miles) which it displayed at a military parade on Friday, state media reported on Saturday.

The test-firing of the Khorramshahr missile, which Iran said could carry several warheads, is likely to raise concerns in Washington.

State broadcaster IRIB carried footage of the missile test without giving its time and location, including video from an on-board camera which it said showed the detachment of the cone that carries multiple warheads.

"You are seeing images of the successful test of the Khorramshahr ballistic missile with a range of 2,000 km, the latest missile of our country," state television said.

"This is the third Iranian missile with a range of 2,000 km," it added.

The Khorramshahr missile was first displayed at a military parade on Friday, where President Hassan Rouhani said Iran would strengthen its missile capabilities without seeking any country's permission.

they are more vulnerable to intercept and their launching takes more prep time which gives enemy to counter them even before launch .....

Iran has been able to hit Israel since the late 90s, with the 2000 km Shahab-3. Iran's "official" max range is 2500 km with the Sejjil missile, but this Khorramshahr is easily capable of at least 3000 km range with a normal warhead seeing as it has a 2000 km range with a 1.8 ton warhead.

This is what i thought however the tone of the article was somewhat different suggesting as if this is the first time which was surprising considering Israel should had been in range a long ago. Your reply clarifies it. There is one more question, are Iranian missiles MRIV?

According to my knowledge Agni-VI is MRIV capable missile.

You see your ghauri-1 is a 16m long missile with a diameter of 1.35m that go up to 1500m our shahab-3 is a 15.5m long missile with the diameter of 1.25m and a range of 2000km interestingly Ghauri warhead is 700kg while shahab 3 has a warhead of 980kg .
You see even Ghauri 2 can't compete with shahab-3

That's because Pakistan does not provide the true specs about range and warhead size. Acc. to one scientist working at these institutions for some missile the understatement is of about 1500-2000 kms.
