Iran says offers India bigger role in strategic port | Reuters

Naval base in Iran? That's not going to happen and Iran certainly doesn't want to embroil itself with the Pakistani/Indian rivalry. The Iranians remember very well how Pakistan stayed clear of the Yemen conflict and many Iranian strategic experts appreciated that.
Iran will trade with both nations and everyone will prosper.

Only some delusional Indians were talking about it and since have accepted it's a fantasy. Our relationship with Iran has only economic dimensions

It's ok, people can post their opinions. I hope for a better future.

Very good , at least after this news some Pakistani member will stop all the ga ga of India being removed from Chahabar port. We must make sure ONGC should get Farsi gas block ASAP, but India need to pay extra as it has not develop the gas field in the stipulated time, for whatever reason, I think for INDIA-IRAN strategic friendship should face dificulties on some hundreds of millions should not be a obstacle.
Please share your thought @SOHEIL ,@Serpentine ,@2800 ,@Arminkh , @kollang and other Iranian member
Great news indeed!

Just so you know, a lot of developments are going to start in east side of Iran which unfortunately has been overlooked for so many years. The biggest reason of underdevelopment is first the fact that most of Iran population are living on west and North side. the 2nd reason was the threats that were always felt on the west side from Iraq and some Kords. So the infrastructure improvements were a way to keep people content and united.

Now there are some new developments that are turning Iran's attention to east:

1- The problem with terrorists on the east borders requires more infrastructure to fight the poverty and improve quality of life. One of our religious leaders says"dignity goes out from the same door that poverty enters". A prosperous east will see the rate of crime and terrorism reduced.

2- Unlike the past few centuries, the economic giants are moving to the east side of Iran. China, India and many other Asian countries will have a bright future. There will be increased transactions between Iran and those countries through eastern borders.

3- Iran's view of its navy has turned from a passive/defensive force to an active/strategic one. Thus one of the biggest Naval centers will be formed on south-east of Iran to give direct access to Indian Ocean. I also have heard that a new space ship lunching site is supposed to start in the same area as it is the closest area in Iran to the equator.

4- East side of Iran is the shortest and best transit route between Persian gulf and countries on the north.

Mentioned the above to let you know there are enough projects and investment opportunities for any true friends of Iran to enjoy for a long period. We hope these cooperation pave the way for closer friendship between us, Pakistanis, Indians and all of us harvest the benefits.

Thank god some people get it. Why on earth would Iran get into the middle of Pakistan India nonsense tug of war? It's already doing same sort of things with other M.E. nations. And India isn't the only country that can get involved with Iran's port.

India needs a route for C. Asian and Afghan resources/trade, Iran provides that. Simple as that.

Thank you for highlighting the opportunities Iran offers. The strategic nature of Iran and it's importance in geo-politics cannot be denied and was only delayed by idiotic sanctions.

Iran is going to have a lot suitors like India, China, Russia and Japan waiting for a chance to invest so there is going to be an embarrassment of riches.

I wish Iran the best of luck in it's path to success and hope India can join Iran as a friend and economic partner for co-development in energy resources, space technologies and infrastructure building.

for them may be its not money ... But for India urf baniya ... It is and always will be money :) and dont embarass yourself please

We are not a rich nation.
So we have very much interest in economic ,diplomatic and technical benefits.
We will keep our promise .
Same as Iran.

There is no doubt that a naval base will be boon for us. But for that to happen, deep mistrust between Iran and Pakistan is a pre requisite. I therefore would prefer a strategic partnership with regular port calls by IN ships to Iranian ports. Lets see what future has in stores for us..

LOL..it was in jest..it was a take on the pakistani members trying to portray russian interests in pakistan into something strategic.

I like both countries. But why the hell would Iran allow an Indian naval base? Iran isn't a 'receivership' country. Heck, Iran would trade with anybody, and partner with everybody, but won't allow an Indian naval base.
And how do you know? Do you make strategies and doctrines on behalf of the Iranian government? There's more going on behind the scenes than the public will ever know.

Dont need to quote my post if you dont have anything to say.

@OrionHunter this is BS.
Those Persians were successful in blocking six big nations for years for their own benefit.
What is the chance of India in here?
Why should we create problems among the GCC?
Iran is an independent country .
And India is still a developing nation you know that.

And how do you know? Do you make strategies and doctrines on behalf of the Iranian government? There's more going on behind the scenes than the public will ever know.

 so you know more about Iran and its govt than Iranians themselves? And by the way why would IRAN even consider that? Do you have any enemies in common? Is Iran your vessel state? Is Iran dependant on india? Have you ever even conducted a joint military exercise?

Boy .. you ppl sure like to dream fiction...

Indo-Iran trade at the moment is ~$15 Billion which is not satisfactory considering the potential both countries have, Now with lifted sanctions, I am certain that It will be doubled in next 5 years. Long live to two great ancient nations!!!
PS: To few Pakistanis, A country need not to choose one among two when it comes to business. Hope even Pakistan will open up it's businesses with India.
