The Iranian Majlis (parliament) has condemned the Saudi proposal for merger with Bahrain, saying the “unwise” measure will further destabilize the region and multiply its problems.

The Saudi plans to annex Bahrain “will extend the Bahraini crisis to Saudi Arabia and push the region toward further unrest,” a statement, signed by 190 Iranian lawmakers, read on Monday.

The statement asserted that political force and pressure cannot silence the frustrated Bahraini people who have been holding anti-government demonstrations since mid-February 2011 and calling on the US-backed Al Khalifa family to leave power.

On March 14, 2011, more than 1,000 Saudi troops entered Bahrain to assist the Manama government in suppressing the peaceful popular protests in the Persian Gulf Island.

According to local sources, scores of people have been killed and hundreds have been arrested in the Saudi-backed regime crackdown.

In a report released on April 17, Amnesty International criticized the Bahraini regime for continuing the violation of human rights and the excessive use of force against the anti-regime protesters.

"The authorities are trying to portray the country as being on the road to reform, but we continue to receive reports of torture and use of unnecessary and excessive force against protests. Their reforms have only scratched the surface," said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Amnesty International's Middle East and North Africa deputy director.

The Iranian lawmakers concluded by expressing their “all-out support for the brave nation of Bahrain as well as the independence and territorial integrity of the country.”

Saudi Arabia is reportedly seeking to merge with Bahrain in line with plans to unify the six Arab member states of the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council ([P]GCC).

The council members, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman, are expected to meet and discuss closer union among the six countries on Monday.

In December 2011, Saudi King Abdullah called on the council member states to move “beyond the stage of cooperation and into the stage of unity in a single entity.”

However, some members of the council have expressed concern about Saudi Arabia’s possible dominance over the other five countries if the [P]GCC becomes unified.

Does it mean from now on,there is no such country as Bahrain? Now it's part of KSA?Now they can suppress Bahrainis at its best.Saudi regime is an enemy to whole Muslim world.Iran should not let this happen,Bahrain shuldn't be annexed to Saudi Arabia.

. .
It is not a merger. It is a military invasion. US is just trying to secure its fifth fleet stationed in Bahrain. Shah of Iran made mistake by giving Bahrain to British. Now Iran reaps what he sew.

M.F*** :butcher:

. . .
It is wider Shia- Sunni conflict in the middle east especially after Iran's open support to Asad regime.Iraq, Bahrain,Syria, Lebanon all are going in to deep sectarian divide even the most respected mediator Turkey is siding with Sunnis so the coming days are more difficult for Iran to manage the issue internationally.

.
It actually goes beyond that. It is violation of UN charter. An invasion and dissolution of a sovereign country.

But it will be packaged in a way to make it look as if it is in the interest of the people. Do not forget Sauds were giving advise to Hillary in Turkey about Democracy mind you that was for Syria

This is true. Shia-Sunni conflict fueled by petro-dollars from Iran and Saudi.

I fear for Pakistan. Our Sunnis (especially Wahabis) and Shia Pakistanis are not totally sold their Mullahs and Ayatullahs located in Saudi and Iran.

this may tear our country apart.

Indians should not be jubilant though. The same conflict is simering there as well.

praying for peace in Pakistan ( I have no hope for peace in Iran or Saudi and anyone who follows them).

Hahahaha it is funny because they are angry

Bahrain have always been part of KSA we are only making it more official now. :)

If KSA annexes Bahrain it will only increase the net Shia population of KSA - not exactly a desired effect I can see.

Not sure who formulated this idea and what were they smoking / drinking when coming up with this idea.

Exactly what gives that some Sheikhs, Hammads, Thani's and Khalifas are far more worried to secure their thrones - even if that means annexation of a sovereign country by a bigger neighbor. How can we expect support for the cause of Palestine and Kashmir from such people????

.
merger? Does this mean there will be no bahrain and the whole territory would be annexed by KSA?

.
I loved our foreign minister's reply to a reporter that said "Iran have condemned the merger and is itmrelated to Iran in anyway?"

He said this has nothing to do with Iran this is our business Iran can merge with whatever country it wants we wouldn't care. And laughed. :lmao:

How about if Iran and Iraq merge?
Some real nightmare there - looks like FM did not do a good geopolitical study.

Looks like all Sunni Arabs are uniting under Saudi to face off their Shia population.

Iran on the other hand is keeping his Shia-Arab goons like Sadar and Hizbullah fasad-Allah to face off Sunni Arabs.

Wow. Grand example of Islamic Ummah or Paksitani version called Islamist Ammah.

Sad isn't it?

Arab Shias playing against Arab Sunnis. Be it Lebanon, or Syria, or Iraq and now Bahrain.

it tells you that Islam cannot be used to unite people.

Instead

Saudi Mullahs and Iranian Ayatullahs are using Islam to tear apart nations and countries.

So unfortunate.
