Iranian and Pakistani officials have agreed in principle to complete a long awaited multi-billion-dollar gas pipeline project by 2013.

The agreement was reached in an operational-level meeting between the two sides on Monday, an official in Pakistan’s Petroleum Ministry told Press TV.

The initial agreement on the 7.5-billion-dollar Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline, also known as the Peace Pipeline, was signed in Tehran in May between the Iranian and Pakistani presidents.

The 2,600-kilometer (1,615-mile) gas pipeline was originally proposed to transfer Iran’s gas to the Indian subcontinent.

“The feasibility of the gas pipeline project between Pakistan and Iran, and other technical matters were discussed during the meeting,” the official said.

Both sides agreed to boost their efforts on the project and decided to complete the project by 2013.

Pakistan -- facing an energy crisis -- plans to generate 4,600 megawatts of electricity with Iranian natural gas.

While Pakistan has been facing an electricity shortfall of more than 3,000 megawatts leading to frequent and long blackouts in the country, it has been under pressure from Washington to abandon the deal.

Although currently Pakistan and Iran are the sole signatories to the gas deal, Islamabad says that India can join the project later on.

-Going to be very difficult to put more sanction on Iran, when so many countries have their interests in that country..(China, Russia, India, now Pakistan.)

I also just read, Iran just made their own indigenous UAV drone, with possible weapons capability, going along with their supposedly S-300 SAM systems they also made..I don't know the probable inventory of their possible arsenal they have for their defense. They usually just talk and post in the media that they made new generation defense equipment, but who knows they don't show any proof on it..But w/e all talk and no walk :P..
