Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan Discuss Expansion of Economic Ties
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Minister of Economy and the Head of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) met with their Pakistani and Afghan counterparts in Washington and discussed ways to expand trilateral ties.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 65th IMF-World Band annual meeting, underway in Washington D.C from October 8 to 10.
The three sides also underlined the necessity for setting up a joint group to work on the expansion of Iran-Pakistan-Afghanistan ties.
Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Shamseddin Hosseini and his Pakistani counterpart met to discuss expansion of trade and development of rail transportation, specially revival of the Silk Road.
At the meeting, Hosseini also asked for the further activation and utilization of the Development and Trade Bank of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
Also, Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Mahmoud Bahmani in a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart called for boosting banking relations as well as financial and banking exchanges between the two neighboring countries.
The Pakistani side, for his part, thanked the Iranian nation and Leader for their all-out support for the flood-hit people of Pakistan.
