Iranian Army’s elite Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) unveiled a “magnetic” coronavirus radar Thursday.

The problem is, a virus cannot be detected magnetically, and that the tool is likely a slightly modified version of a fake bomb detector whose creators have been imprisoned for fraud.

The so-called “magnetic coronavirus radar looks very much like the fake bomb detectors, albeit with minor design differences.

“These fake bomb detectors – sold with spurious but scientific-sounding claims – were, in fact, empty cases, but were sold and used in conflict zones in many countries around the world,” BBC said in a piece.

“The device tested in an Iranian hospital today seems to be a repurposed version of those fake detectors, with an almost identical case and antenna. Even the packaging of the device, which can be seen in a video being unveiled on Iranian state television, looks very similar,” BBC added.

The only way to diagnose the novel coronavirus, according to experts, is proper medical testing. Any method based on magnetism will not work.

How can one detect a virus with EM waves? I remember they used to have these fake detectors at our airports. Being an R&D engineer i always got confused and once took it apart as well thinking i might be missing some sort of otherworldly knowledge here . It is stupid stunts like these by IRGC that overshadow real contributions of Iran in science and technology. By doing such propaganda they merely stunt technological growth of Iran. Not to mention the fact that such stupid useless stunts are an insult to every person who has died bcz of corona virus or suffered bcz of it.

Speaking on the sidelines of the unveiling ceremony of the coronavirus detection device on Wed., Salami said, “this new achievement is an emerging and unique scientific-technological phenomenon that was fully developed by IRGC’s Basij forces after the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country.”

The device has been equipped with an antenna, he said, adding, “a bipolar virus has been designed inside the device and its antenna is placed in front of the contaminated area up to 100m distance and can detect the contaminated area in five seconds using a magnetic field.”

The device does not require blood tests and it works well from a distance. It is used for mass screening and can detect the contaminated surfaces and people who are infected, he continued.

Moreover, this device can act as a smart disinfectant, so that there will be no need to disinfect non-contaminated areas, Salami stated.

This device has been tested in various hospitals with more than 80 percent accuracy and can be a very good basis for any kind of virus, he added.
