Iran Launches New military Satellite into Orbit

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran on Wednesday announced that the country has sent an imaging satellite into an earth orbit.​

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force has successfully put Noor-III (light-III), its third military satellite, into orbit, Minister of Communications and Information Technology (ICT) Issa Zarepour announced on Wednesday.
The imaging satellite was launched with a homegrown satellite carrier, dubbed Qassed, he added.
The satellite was successfully placed into an orbit 450 kilometers above Earth.
The IRGC had launched the first Iranian military satellite, Noor-I, in April 2020, and Noor-II in March 2022.
All three satellites have been sent into orbit by the Qassed satellite carrier, designed and manufactured by the IRGC Aerospace Force.

What is known about Noor-3/Najm so far:
- SIGINT satellite with 3 cameras
- 7 kg heavier than Noor-2, which weighed 17 kg
- better image resolution than Noor-2, which had an image resolution of 12-15 m

Noor-3 resolution is 2.5 times better than Noor-2 and also has Signal sensors different from Noor-1 and Noor-2 satellites

Satellite was stabilized automatically in one hour. 1.5 hours after its launch when it passed the country for the first time it was already stabilized.

After this, we will be able to launch government and academic satellites and small satellites in the form of several satellites in one launch. We have stabilized satellites below 50 kg and after that we will work on Qaem SLV to launch heavier satellites.

After this, we will start launching satellites at a higher rate and we want to put a system of Iranian satellites in orbit that have different uses.

A 30-40kg would effectively be useless 20 years ago, but components have shrunk so much now, you can fit some good hardware into a 35kg payload. No need for big satellites and massive missiles except for niche capabilities.

• رئیس سازمان فضایی ادامه داد: در آینده نزدیک رسیدن به دقت تصویربرداری2 و 2.5 متر و 4 متر در برنامه است و قراردادهای آن نیز امضا شده و در محله کار و تحقیقات هستیم.
  
  سالاریه تصریح کرد: پیش بینی ما این است که تا پایان 1404 بتوانیم در حوزه دقت‌های ۱ متر هم قدم‌هایی برداشته شده و فاز تحقیقاتی آن آغاز شود.
  
  معاون وزیر و رئیس سازمان فضایی ایران با اعلام این خبر که، تا ۲سال آینده پرتاب‌های متعدد ماهواره با دقت 5، 4 و 3.5 متر را در برنامه خود خواهیم داشت، تاکید کرد: در زمینه زیرساخت خصوصا در حوزه تجمیع و تست ماهواره در اجرام بالا نیز در برنامه ۱۰ ساله سازمان فضایی قرار دارد.

Long term goal will be a robust constellation of high resolution satellites able to provide up to date information on enemy targets.

Im assuming this will be accomplished within a decade give or take several years.
