Iran, India hold joint naval exercise - Mehr News Agency

TEHRAN, Sep. 02 (MNA) – Indian Navy fleet left Iran to India after holding joint naval exercise with Iranian Sabalan and Alborz destroyers.
On the sidelines of Iran-India’s joint naval maneuver, the Indian flotilla commander Rama Krishnan said that, “Indo-Iranian culture dates back to more than three thousand years, which is a sign of economic and cultural commonalities between the two countries.

Krishnan further pointed to reliance of Indian’s future on the sea and added that, Iran and India are inherently naval powers; therefore, joint cooperation between Iran and India can guarantee the security of the region.

Noting that the world is changing and people are gaining a more prominent role in the world’s policies, Commander of Iran's First Naval Zone Rear Admiral Amir Hossein Azad asserted in the ceremony that, “in the past, governments would concur other nations based on their own secular interests and benefits; however, India’s history is a good example because great figures like Gandhi and other influential political figures as well as people proved that people decide on the fate of their country."

“More than half of the world’s population lives on the northern and eastern sides of the Indian Ocean and 75 percent of the world’s energy resides in the northern Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf; we believe that the two great nations of Iran and India, as in the past could cooperate to the economic benefit of the people in this region so that they will be relieved," he said.

Yesterday, the Indian Navy fleet carried out joint maritime exercises with the Iranian Sabalan and Alborz destroyers and the Hindi flotilla left Iran to India after the training.

Wow this is impressive.

I never thought this will happen so quickly.

I hope Iran-India relationship will be equal unlike other relationships worldwide.

Iran to Hold Multiple Naval Drills: Commander
July 14, 2015 - 14:29
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Navy has plans to hold multiple naval exercises in the near future, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced.

The war games will start after the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which ends on July 17, the commander told reporters in Tehran on Monday.
Sayyari said the drills will include operations by different watercraft, including vessels and submarines, as well as exercises focusing on the technological, electronic warfare and missile capabilities.
He also noted that "Velayat" naval war game is scheduled for the end of the Iranian year (to end on March 19, 2016).
Elsewhere in his comments, the top commander said his forces are manufacturing new Paykan-class rocket launching warships, as well as Qadir and Fateh-class submarines.
Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including the air defense systems that use cutting edge technologies.
Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.

Iran, India to Stage Joint Military Drill

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian Navy commander announced that Iran and India will stage joint naval exercises in the near future.

“A joint military exercise by Iran and India will be staged in the Persian Gulf (south of Iran) and the Indian Ocean in coming days,” Commander of Iran's First Naval Zone Admiral Amir Hossein Azad made the remarks on Friday one day after an Indian Navy fleet docked at Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas, the provincial capital of Hormozgan province, for a 5-day stay.
Azad added that Iran and India play a key role in ensuring the security of the high seas, adding that the Indian naval personnel on board the warships are scheduled to hold joint military exercises with Iran’s Navy on the last day of their stay in the province.
He went on to say that the two countries enjoy numerous commonalities, adding that such cooperation can boost military ties between the two nations.
Also on Friday, Indian Defense Ministry issued a statement and said that the fleet entered Iran as part of a “goodwill visit to strengthen the bilateral relations” between the two countries.
"It has been India's national objective to ensure a secure and stable regional environment, which is conducive for economic and social development not just at home, but also in immediate and extended neighborhood," the Defense Ministry further said in the statement.
"The Indian Navy, while shouldering its security responsibilities, is committed to these objectives and has been contributing towards humanitarian assistance, capacity building and capability enhancement of friendly foreign countries when so needed," it added.

India, Australia joint naval maneuvers seek to counter China’s sway in Indian Ocean

India and Australia will hold their first ever joint naval drills next month.
The two countries are seeking to deepen defense ties and counter China’s growing sway in the Indian Ocean, AFP said.
The maritime exercises will be held in the Bay of Bengal off India’s eastern coast next month. They will include anti-submarine warfare and coordinated anti-submarine drills, according to the Australian High Commission in Delhi.
The Indian Ocean is fast-emerging as a new arena of competition between China and India, analysts say.

These exercises and/or visits are a good thing between Iran and India. The IN exercises more with the USN, than with any other navy. This could be a cause of concern to the Iranian government and its Navy. More exercises and visits will ensure there is no animosity between the two. Also, we need to ensure Iran realises that the IN means no harm to Iran and its interests.

Most Iranians know about India Non-Alliance approach. We are not like Pakistan.

Only thing I am worried about is that Saudi Arabia might like the closeness of Iran and India
