An IRGC member taking a selfie on the Abrams
The IRGC got their hands on the M1Abrams of the Iraqi army.
Do you guys think they'll reverse engineer the thing and make their own M1 Abrams?

what's there to reverse engineer?

they should just buy some Al-Khalid tanks
The Abrams would be one of the most combat tested tanks on earth. The Al-Khalid however has only gone up against some stupid jihaidsts with AKs And RPGs, maybe not even that. However them buying the al Khalid would be beneficial to both countries.

Good thing it was an export version, wouldn't want anybody getting a hold of the armor composition of the standard US M1A2 or M1A1

They are still petty tough though, one video showed an ISIS member score a direct hit on an Iraqi Abrams with an RPG-29 and the crew was still able to fight back.

it,s in iraq. U.S. made Abrams alongside with Iranian delivered T-72S.

Honestly, They could upgrade the Zulfiqar with Abrams tech?

These are basic tanks with good quality built. It doesn't take a genius to build. All it needs is some extra cash for the upgrades.

They could just buy advanced systems from Russian and install on so locally produced tank. Besides tank warfare is becoming a thing of the past, today it's about mobility. Small armored vehicles with extensive firepower.

BTW the tanks belong to the Iraqi army 5th armored division whom are operating alongside the PMF. They are operated and maintained by the Iraqi army, I doubt the Iraqi army is planning to let anyone "borrow" them.

what do you see in that selfie soldier in photo to believe he is Iranian at all?? He could easily be an Iraqi soldier... Even his badge on his right arm is in Arabic!!
