MB in Egypt and Syria unifying whole ME is an interesting scenario. I would recommend close relationship between a greater GCC among all Asian Arab states and the Maghreb, but Maghreb has its own interest to look at in Africa, for example, Nile river flows through 9 African countries I think and without a African Union, Egypt will be without water and without Egypt, Maghreb cannot join the greater GCC or GCC+, as I like to call it.

On topic, Israel/US/West can see this developing scenario, that the region is recovering back from Sykes-Picot and are not liking it, but they know they cannot stop it, so before others they are extending their help and support for the inevitable while China/Russia/Iran and some Pakistani posters here are completely misreading the whole geopolitical implications of the current developing situations in the Arab lands.

Libya today is a free country, even if there is partition, it is no big deal, they will be all part of a big African Union. My predictions are specific and consistent, I am not changing story, you will see if I stay here long enough and not get banned by mods who do not seem to like me very much.

We should bring in criticism for Saudi or Bahraini when these rulers have killed 10,000 or even 1,000, since they did not even cross a hundred, they did not cross any important threshold. The situations are not comparable. My reading is that GCC monarch's are smarter and more humane than Qadhafi or Assad and they will give up power long before killing so many people. For a fire to start you need a land full of dry bush and scrubs (people with their back against the wall) and then any spark can ignite a fire. The common masses in Saudi and Bahrain have enough govt. benefits and also the regimes are smart to prevent any spark to ignite fire, so they seem to be ok for the time being and will remain ok for as long as these conditions remain true, wet trees and bushes and no sparks.

Iranian Parliamentary Speaker and top aide to Supreme Leader Khamenei says Syrian crisis is not similar to situation in Libya, warning West of their 'dangerous game.'

A western military intervention in war-torn Syria will result in a regional upheaval that would undoubtedly engulf Israel, a senior Iranian official said on Wednesday, following a massacre in the Syrian city of Houla, which garnered severe criticism in the West.

Russia said on Wednesday that the UN Security Council should not consider new measures to resolve the crisis in Syria at this point and signaled it would block any effort to authorize military intervention, the Interfax news agency reported.

The warnings came after the French President Francois Hollande said military intervention was not ruled out provided it was backed by the Security Council, and Germany said it would push for "new engagement" by the council on Syria.

Referring to the possibility of military action being taken in order to depose the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad on Wednesday, Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Ali Larijani warned of the consequences of such a move.

"Possibly, U.S. military officials are misunderstanding regional issues because Syria's specifications are no way similar to those of Libya," Larijani, an aide of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said.

In what seemed to be an explicit threat against the consequences military action could have on Israel, Larijani said that violence form a Syrian version of Benghazi "will spread into Palestine and the ashes of such flame will definitely bury the Zionist regime."

“It seems that the United States and the West are seeking to pave the way for a new crisis,” he added, saying that “U.S. officials should be aware of their dangerous game. Isn’t it necessary that they take measures in response to the military occupation of Bahrain? The question is why they are preventing the reform plan in Syria from moving forward.”

Larijani's comments came after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad condemned civilian deaths in the Syrian crisis, adding, however that the West and certain Arab countries were interfering in Syria and sending weapons to help bring down the government.

"We cannot trust these people because their objective is to bring down Assad," he said.

US/West are the biggest b@stards of the world. everyone knows that even if the recent war in Libya was finished in months last year, over 1000 were killed in just 'friendly fire' due to mistakenly dropped bombs by NATO's aircrafts on their own local men. first US organize this type of riots somewhere in Syria and then they might have few in Syrian military also who might have opened fire on few of the innocents and might have run and then putting blame on Mr Assad? dont we know over 20,000 in total killed in the recent Libya war while it was a very small country and over 10,000 dead came from civilian side only. Russia has backed the Syrian government's stand on massacre in the region of Houla saying the bloodshed was the result of foreign assistance to rebels.

“The tragedy in Houla showed what can be the consequence of financial aid and smuggling of modern weapons to rebels, the recruitment of foreign mercenaries and flirting with various extremists,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Referring to a probe conducted by Syrian authorities in the killing of more than 100 people in Houla the Russian statement said it showed that “the crime was an act well planned by the rebels in order to undermine political solution to the Syrian crisis.”

Moscow denounced “attempts to use the deaths of children and innocent people for political ends to return to the vicious algorithm of a ‘Libya scenario'.” Russia together with China and Cuba voted against a U.N. Human Rights Council resolution calling for an independent probe into the Houla deaths.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin has firmly rejected foreign military intervention in Syria and urged the West instead to support the peace mission of the U.N.-Arab envoy Kofi Annan. “What is happening in Libya? What is happening in Iraq? Has it become safer there? We propose to act in an accurate, balanced manner at least in Syria,” Mr. Putin said during a visit to France on Friday.
