Iran closes border with Pakistan

CHAGAI - Iran has closed its border with Pakistan for indefinite period following the incident of Taftan that claimed lives of 24 pilgrims and injuring 18 others.


"Zero-Point gate on Pak-Iran border in Taftan has been closed by the Iranian officials and all activities pertaining to travelling and trade through the border were suspended," Chagai Deputy Commissioner Saifullah Khetran said. Security on Pak-Iran border was also tightened.

This will help Pakistan keep its eyes on TTP. you cannot deplete resources to handle every problem everywhere and this one in particular is an attempt to engage Pakistan on multiple fronts. We should thank Iran for doing that.. until our hands are free to eliminate terrorists in that area.

Terrorists are going MAD and are attempting every $hit they could. They have attacked Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, Shias, Sunnis and desperate to create another burning point which may make Pakistan de-focus from them.

I highly doubt their ability (or anyone's for that matter) to "seal" or close such a border.

There is an immense amount of resources attempting to shore up the same border but further north, in an attempt to slow down the drug smugglers, but that is a daunting task as well.

24 rockets fired from Iran into Pakistan

QUETTA: As many as 24 rockets were fired by the Iranian forces in Mashkail Tehsil of Washuk District, a bordering town of Pakistan, on Monday.
Talking to Daily Times Balochistan Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durani confirmed the firing of rockets by the Iranian forces. Frontier Corps spokesman Khan Wasey also confirmed the rocket attack and said the Iranian forces fired 24 rockets in Jumi Sham area, near an FC checkpost. “The FC checkpost is in two kilometres’ proximity of the said areas,” he said and added: “FC returned fire with mortar shells towards Iran.” However, no loss of life was reported in the attack since the area is a desolated place.
“Loud explosions rocked the entire Pak-Iran border area,” Wasey went on to say, adding that, however, FC personnel’s timely retaliation silenced the Iranian side and that there was no loss of life. The local administration lodged a protest with the Iranian authorities regarding the latest skirmish. Iranian border guards have repeatedly fired rockets into Pakistani territory, creating panic among people living in areas bordering Iran.
