Receiving systems from Iran is hardly a " milestone and growing technological pace "
A child removing the paper from a gift box can hardly claim some technological achievement.
Qasif drones are simply Ababil drone renamed and their range if all of the Ababil drone is 100 km :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HESA_Ababil#Qasef-1
The Oil field is no more than 10 km from the UAE borders with Saudi Arabia .. near Oman, Qatar and the Gulf, so it can be launched from a small boat easily.. or north Eastern Yemen..
Those are mainly speculations since no one really knows where the drone was launched from.. and by the way patriot and Thaad are not for drones.. they are for real Ballistic missiles and Cruse missiles.. The Saudi Oil fields will soon be protected against drones.. no worries about that..But the distance of the targeted facility is very far from Northern Yemen, where the Houthis are located. Therefore, the 100 KM claim doesn't hold water.
The Arab coalition also placed a sea blockade around the coast that the Houthis have presence. So launching the drones from the sea would be difficult as that means they would need to outmaneuver the coalitions's naval forces. The boat would also need to travel through the Red Sea all the way through the Gulf of Oman in order to carry out the attacks.
The most likely scenario is that the Houthis may have increased the fuel capacity of the drone but that would mean less space for explosives. And this theory explains the Saudi Arabia's reports that the fire was quickly extinguished. This is perhaps the reason why the Houthis sent the 10 drones.
The technological pace that I referred to is that if the Houthi drones can travel that distance, the next thing could be cruise missiles reaching that distance and beyond. And as I understand it, cruise missiles would be carrying bigger payloads of explosives.
I think Saudi Arabia should consider buying other anti-drone and anti-missile systems than THAAD and Patriot. They don't seem to be doing the job.
you forget the deal of 100 billion $$ armed deal between Saudi Arabia and USA 2 year back, on the trip of Trump, which include F-15SA/PAC-3/THAAD/Naval ships/ army equipment etc etc @undertakerwwefanThe poorer KSA is, the less able KSA is able to buy expensive western hardware, the more likely KSA will buy cheaper Russian hardware, so Russia loves to see KSA poor.

there was was thread on this deal between USA/Suadi ARABIA on PDF, they are buying one of the most expensive EU- jet EF-2000 (price tag 150 million per piece) they already older version of F-15 on their arsenal named F-15S, one or two failed attacks on their oil fields doesn't means they crippled their ECONOMY, there is lots of oil field in all over Suadi Arabia @undertakerwwefanKSA becomes poor if its oil industry is crippled by Ansar Allah attacks. Poor KSA can't afford F-15, can only buy Su-30, means big money for Russia military industrial complex.

so, they have defense for those industries in form of PAC-2, only few attacks had been successful, mostly intercepted by PAC-2, so money isn't problem for Saudi Arabia @undertakerwwefanOil in Saudi Arabia is mostly in eastern part of country.

proof that Atta Allah army using suicide drone against oil fields against Saudi oil fields and it doesn't matter these suicide drone have low RCS, PAC-2 using AESA PAC-2 still able to intercept those suicide drones abit in short range, and what a stupid logic you have, yes SAMs is expensive compare to drone but its for Saudi defense, some enemy attacking your land and you will not used your weapons that you buy for the defense of your country, assume that China attacked by Japan by some UCAVs, so China will not use its S-400 from Russia for its defense because its expensive, what a retard logic you have @undertakerwwefanKamikaze drones have very small RCS. SAM rarely work against kamikaze drones. Plus, SAM costs much more than kamikaze drones.
Why it's bad for yemen army to hit KSA but ok for KSA to hit Yemen ?it is very bad attitude by rebels and I think russia should play role in stopping them from carrying out attacks on saudia.I think saudis should buy panstir and s400 from russia as u.s airdefense is failing to protect them

radars categorize targets based on their RCS and speed, otherwise every crow would be a target.it doesn't matter these suicide drone have low RCS, PAC-2 using AESA PAC-2
