But the distance of the targeted facility is very far from Northern Yemen, where the Houthis are located. Therefore, the 100 KM claim doesn't hold water.

The Arab coalition also placed a sea blockade around the coast that the Houthis have presence. So launching the drones from the sea would be difficult as that means they would need to outmaneuver the coalitions's naval forces. The boat would also need to travel through the Red Sea all the way through the Gulf of Oman in order to carry out the attacks.

The most likely scenario is that the Houthis may have increased the fuel capacity of the drone but that would mean less space for explosives. And this theory explains the Saudi Arabia's reports that the fire was quickly extinguished. This is perhaps the reason why the Houthis sent the 10 drones.

The technological pace that I referred to is that if the Houthi drones can travel that distance, the next thing could be cruise missiles reaching that distance and beyond. And as I understand it, cruise missiles would be carrying bigger payloads of explosives.

Those are mainly speculations since no one really knows where the drone was launched from.. and by the way patriot and Thaad are not for drones.. they are for real Ballistic missiles and Cruse missiles.. The Saudi Oil fields will soon be protected against drones.. no worries about that..

The poorer KSA is, the less able KSA is able to buy expensive western hardware, the more likely KSA will buy cheaper Russian hardware, so Russia loves to see KSA poor.
