The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) says it will hold a joint aerial drill with a regional country in September, marking IRAF's first international war game.


Deputy IRIAF Commander Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh said on Wednesday that the war game would most likely be held in the second half of Shahivar --Iranian calendar month starting August 23 -- once the necessary requirements are completed, told Fars news agency on Wednesday.

^Just want to ask a question, what is the current condition of the Iranian air force? What is the most common fighter used? Will it be able to stand toe to toe with regional power such SA. Ok, that's more than a few questions.

Those F-14s must be really old. But I'd give the Iranians A* for keeping those Tomcats flying for 30+ years under sanctions. They should get a world record for that.

The performance of the Tomcats was very impressive in the Iraq-Iran war even in light of the fact that their avionics were sabotaged by the Americans. That jet and the people taking care and flying them have my respects.

But I'd have to say they have to be replaced at some point soon, unless of-course the Iranians can just copy the Tomcat as their own production variant - that would be a very impressive feat.

By the way, with which country is Iran holding exercises with?
