The small village of Viganella, Italy, lies at the bottom of a deep valley among the Italian side of the Alps. Because of the angle of the sun, the village receives absolutely no direct sunlight between mid November and early February. Because of this, the people of the town suffer from a mild depression called Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Thanks to the genius of architect and sundial designer, Giacomo Bonzani, and engineer Emilo Barlocco, there is now a mirror on the mountain slope overlooking the village. Measuring 8 meters wide by 5 meters high, the computer controlled mirror tracks the sun and tilts the mirror panels ensuring that the sun’s rays are always directed downward into the town square. Costing about 100,000 euros, it has become somewhat of a tourist attraction, and has allowed the winter sun to warm and illuminate the town for the first time ever.

If you want to experience hallucinations, you should go to a Mediterranean restaurant and order Sarpa salpa, a species of bream. Then, you will surely get hallucinations which will be strong and will last long. And everything is legal.
The fish Sarpa salpa or Salema porgy (as it is commonly known) is fish which was widely consumed as a recreational drug in the Roman Empire. Currently, it is also known for causing hallucinations.

The golden stripes of the Sarpa salpa’s body are its most distinctive feature. The fish could be found near the coasts of Tenerife, Cyprus, South Africa, and Malta. But it has also been seen occasionally near the coasts of Great Britain.
Its hallucinogenic effects were reported in 2006 when two men ordered and subsequently, ate the fish at a Mediterranean restaurant. The men started having hallucinations only minutes after they ate Sarpa salpa. The hallucinations lasted for 36 hours and were described by both of them as frightening. They experienced many visual and auditory side effects from eating the ‘spoiled’ fish.

The hallucinogenic effects which Sarpa salpa causes are believed to be triggered by the food that it eats – particular algae and phytoplankton.

Songjiang Shimao Hotel China – A submerged 5 Star Hotel

songjiang-hotel-2.jpg

Ever since man started building, structures have come a long way in evolution. Originating from very simple structures, civil engineering has now entered the realm of construction challenges; somewhere dictated by architectural requirements and somewhere quite impossible-to-reach places. One such example is of Songjiang Shimao Hotel which is currently under construction in Songjang, China. Only very recently, Atkins, a British engineering firm, propounded erection of a handsome building extending far downward into a 100-meter pit situated near the base of Tianmashan Mountain. The Shimao Wonderful Intercontinental Hotel which consists of 19 floors and 380 rooms is unique in its design as it is being built on the site of an abandoned and otherwise neglected open-pit mine.

The design of this luxury hotel encompasses underwater lounges and guestrooms. The water of the quarry will be utilized to flood some portion of the hotel; giving it a look of submerged edifice in a beautiful lake. The images exhibit an artificial waterfall cascading down into the rock near the front part of the hotel. The main lounge, wreathed in green vegetation and natural rock, would be illuminated through sunlight. Moreover the hotel would have sports facilities; some of its additional features include rock climbing and bungee jumping and also an aquarium almost ten meters deep.

Sergeant Wondimu Wedajo, a police officer from Bita Genet, Africa, reported the most curious case.

girllions

A 12 year old girl was kidnapped and held hostage in a remote area in Ethiopia. Her abductors wanted to force her into marriage and had been holding her captive for seven days, torturing and beating her up so that she would commit herself.

Her saviors were none other than three African lions who chased the men away from her. The Ethiopian police didn’t manage to find her immediately, though. However, the three lions kept guarding her from any other potential threats until the police officers were able to trace her. Sergeant Wedajo says that the lions ran away into the forest before the police could even tell if the rescuers were male or female and why they acted this way.

Oddly, this situation proves that there still might be a chance for wild animals and humans not to be sworn enemies.

world's largest solar power plant The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System in California’s Mojave Desert just came online. Once it's up and running fully, it will generate 392 Megawatts of renewable energy, enough to power 140,000 homes and reduce carbon emissions by 400,000 tons per year.

Russian scientist claims to snap the photo of departing soul

p1.jpg

The timing of astral disembodiment in which the spirit leaves the body has been captured by Russian scientist Konstantin Korotkov, who photographed a person at the moment of his death with a bioelectrographic camera. The image taken using the gas discharge visualization method, an advanced technique of Kirlian photography shows in blue the life force of the person leaving the body gradually.

According to Korotkov, navel and head are the parties who first lose their life force (which would be the soul) and the groin and the heart are the last areas where the spirit before surfing the phantasmagoria of the infinite. In other cases according to Korotkov has noted that “the soul” of people who suffer a violent and unexpected death usually manifests a state of confusion in your power settings and return to the body in the days following death. This could be due to a surplus of unused energy.

Four teenage girls from Africa showed off their unique creation at Maker Faire in Lagos, Nigeria. The Faire is a constant magnet for people who want to show off their inventions and practical creations. Duro-Aina Adebola, Akindele Abiola, Faleke Oluwatoyin and Bello Eniola created something the world had never seen before. They invented an electricity generator fuelled by a single litre of urine.

You probably wonder how on Earth could urine produce electricity? Well, the key is the hydrogen in the urine.

The uncommon “fuel” is put into a special electrolytic cell. The cell separates out only the hydrogen from the liquid. The separated hydrogen is then purified into a water filter and goes into a gas cylinder. Another purifying takes place into a cylinder of liquid borax. The borax removes the hydrogen’s moisture. Finally, the purified hydrogen gas is pushed into the generator.

After the process of purifying a litre of urine is completed, the generator will run for 6 hours.
