I have seen that very few software especially video editing software are compatible with Linux. So you guys only use these Mint/Ubuntu just for internet surfing

There is a reason why Linux has not captured its due share in the Desktop/PC market and the reason for that is the attitude of the Linux community Itself. It is mostly geared towards the server Industry. Android is changing that but Android is not pure Linux

Actually for word and excel i use kingsoft in linux its even better than ms office

No apps could replace ms office , and also that we have remained so used to it , some emulated version with missing festures wont do.

What is ur hard disk size that u have installed so many OS. Do u attach an external hard drive?

Secondly, as of root files? How could one allow access to them or rather block it.

What anti virus u are using on ur linux?

My Win 8.1 been showing update to Windows 10 logo for sometime now. I would suggest to stay away from the update for the time being. Another thing you must look into before you decide to update is what MS is calling as "Cortana", and all your activities on your PC will be logged and sent to MS for analysis, so essentially what this means is that by accepting the terms of usage, you will be allowing MS to spy and collect data on you. And this data won't be anonymous, but each user will have a specific ID, and linked to their MS account. Apparently you can disable some of this via group policies but how much I am not sure at the moment. So all in all stay away from this update.

We installed it on two systems in my office and both are giving some problems. Error on startup, the start menu is not opening, the control panel and settings are not working so we are having a hard time even to get back to windows 7 that we were originally using.

Have decided to wait for a few MONTHS, let the developer iron out the problems and then will go for it, i suggest you guys the same.

NOTE: This is my personal opinion and you guys may differ, go ahead with it then, i hope you do not face the same issues.

It would be idea for the time being to stay away from this OS, lets see how the OS goes.

Thats the fun part no need for antivirus in linux
My harddisk is wait for it only 160 gb where 40 gb is dedicated to my many distros

Just try kingsoft its better plus its free

Do you have to pay for Photoshop or can you download it online? & if you can download it online, which is the latest version?

The latest version is Photoshop CC(Creative Cloud), where it has lot of features which are cloud based.

The version prior to that is Photoshop CS6, which has more features than one will ever need. It comes for around INR 50K. the whole Suite will cost of INR 1.42 L

Even older versions like CS3 will also do the job just fine. They are like digital cameras, you don't need the latest camera to shoot the best image.

Windows 10 upgrade comes for free. However, you will to fulfil to preconditions.

1. You should have a genuine copy of Windows verified by Microsoft.
2. Your current version of Windows should be either Windows 7 or Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
