Very interesting article on Newsweek, here.

The article outlines three theories on the demise of Mullah Omar.

Interesting excerpt on what he thought of Pakistan :-)

Omar died in Afghanistan, my contact said. People have often assumed that the Taliban leader fled across the border into Pakistan, like most of his surviving followers, but in fact he refused to leave the country of his birth. If you’re willing to trust the Pakistanis, you might just as well move to the United States, he told anyone who raised the thought.

It may very well be the case that Afghanistan needs Mullah Omar now more than ever.

Why I feel like ground is being prepared for ISIS to get strong foothold in Afghanistan and then surrounding region including well...................... . Anyways my instincts and I am not an expert or an intelligent person to understand the geopolitics.

since he is dead now- conspiracy theories can afloat -

.
He was nothing more than symbol anyway(if he is dead). Bty i dont trust what the media say.

.
3 weeks back he was being hid by ISI in safe houses in Quetta and Karachi.

Now he is dead for 3 years and suddenly people jump ship.

Kuch logon ka koi deen iman nhn!

This just proves that every article you see about terrorism and such matters is hogwash and you and I can write one just as well...

We are in the middle of a propaganda war. Keep in mind that anyone can post anything on the internet and claim anything. Media cherry pick whatever they want from internet to "prove" certain things

“Without Mullah Omar, I hate everything", said Mullah Zakir(according to the article).

Wow this mullah appears to have had a massive haram crush on mullah Omar.

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un. Mullah Omar was a true Mujahid

Mullah Omar was considered a man of principal, honesty and integrity by even those who opposed him, according to the likes of Robert Grenier and Michael Scheur. I dont share the Talib world view but I hope and pray ALLAH (swt) places him amongst all the brave and noble mujahids in jannah.

It makes a lot of bloody sense. Pakistan is the driving force behind the taliban. They were using mullah omar as a facade and running the quetta shura. Now as the talks are in progress afghan govt wants to deal with person who is in authority and who the hell is that person ? Omar ? but he is dead so resurrect another idiot and lets play the game all over again.

Pakistan could have provided the news earlier itself but they dint why ? This would raise the question who is leading taliban. You can deny and put a lot of spin saying they are independent, uncontrolled.....etc. But afghanistan is not iraq to get money from oil to run operations and maintain a supply chain. Only way is through opium drug trade. For a landlocked country that means only pakistan can facilitate that.
