My wife is traveling from US to Pakistan , and she will be staying in JFK NY air port and Istanbul Air Port for around 14 hours each , I want to know if both of these Air ports have good waiting rooms where my Wife can stay and possible take a nap ? will it be safe to take a nap there ? ( referring to Stealing of stuff ) . If not than can anyone tell me is there any hotel where my wife can stay for her time close to Air port ..

Please tell me how many hours she has to stay on each airport..
I don't think she will need to be on JFK more than three hours her the departure especially since she is US citizen and a white girl.

And which airport in Istanbul? Old or New? I have not been to the new one but I'm sure it will have wifi but airport WIFI is not the best or most reliable normally..so better she should have some package in case of important calls or messaging.

Not helpful but damn your wife will be travelling for approx 40 hrs (14hrsx2 + flight time)... You surely do love your wife :D. I wonder if these airports have sleeping pods like the one in Abu Dhabi airport!

at JFK, she will be waiting for around 11 hours , and around 14 hours at Istanbul air port Turkey that's what her E-ticket says . I don't know if its old or new ?

a wife is a Wife, she didn't consulted me when booking a ticket , and she is definitely not smart enough to check the flight details :(

But she does not need to stay that long on JFK, she can go out and spend time in the city (if it is a day). Hotels on airports tend to be a bit more expensive though I never had to stay so long on JFK. Is there any friends or family in NYC?

I would say she should book a hotel at Istanbul airport and sleep because it is a long flight so 6-7 hrs of sleep is good but she should wake up at least 2.5 hrs before the flight. Because airports can be quite confusing and large places for a new traveller..because missing the flight can create all sorts of problems.

Of course she can , but my Wife is not going to go out, she is very paranoid about things , and its her first time in NY , she will not risk going out in the City alone , that is why I want to know if JFK has good Waiting room where she can stay or sleep for sometime . No unfortunately none of my relative is in NY , most of my American relatives moves to Canada in past few years .

yeah that is what i was telling her but she is insisting on staying at Air port waiting room , and she is stubborn ..and I won't be relaxed as long as she is in some Hotel alone , at least Air ports are safe and if anything she can take some help .

Hey I’d tell my wife to stay in the waiting room instead of walking around in Queens so let her stay.

Will it be safe to sleep at Air port ?

I doubt she even know where Queen's is .. but why ? is it dangerous ?

Queens is the part of the city the airport is in. I’ve never been to JFK as I like to torture myself with a full reverse thruster LaGuardia landing.

Oh ok, well she never talk good about NY and even refused to move there when I am there, so i know she wont be going out , What i do know most of Pakistani's flights went through JFK so it must be a big and busy Air port , so it should have good waiting rooms .

.
@Starlord, the old PanAm terminal at JFK has been converted to a hotel. Maybe that's available for short stays?

. .
Ah, it's the TWA terminal and yes it's available for "day stays" - at $200/12hrs: link

A cheaper alternative might be to research what airline or independent lounges are available at JFK and pay for one of those. Maybe one of the airlines she's flying on has such a lounge available for an extra fee or upgrade?

.
Usually the international airports have lounges where you pay few bucks but get a place to rest, good food, bathroom facilities, WiFi etc. I personally have never used them in Istanbul or USA!!!
