Cutting-edge technologies enforced to guarantee success of CIIE

(People's Daily Online) 08:26, November 03, 2018

A series of cutting-edge technological products have been implemented to guarantee the smooth operation of the first China International Import Expo (CIIE).

The Shanghai Hongqiao Central Business District (SHCBD), where the venue of the CIIE, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) is located, has established a metropolitan smart information platform to ensure visitors enjoy their time at the CIIE.

The platform, applying the latest technologies such as wireless communication, IoT, artificial intelligence and big data, offers data support to the improvement of city image.

By the end of October, more than 10,000 IoT sensors were installed in the SHCBD, covering an area of 2.4 square kilometers. These sensors are placed to allow comprehensive monitoring of the area’s environment, fire control safety, public facility management and services.

The Shanghai branch of China Mobile, one of China’s largest telecommunication carriers, has also expanded the capacity of wireless communication in the exhibition hall to make communication easier for attendees.

At present, the company's free wifi service covers the whole convention center and can be used by as many as 500,000 mobile phones at once. Under a stress test, the speed of the service reached 60 Mb/s.

The network can also be automatically adjusted according to real-time traffic and actual use, which fits the expo’s expected visitor traffic.

Additionally, a command vehicle of the China Mobile Shanghai branch has been deployed to the northern square of the NECC. The vehicle has a mega-capacity Luneburg-lens antenna independently developed in China. The antenna is said to be the most powerful antenna produced in China, which can triple the speed of wireless communication.

Furthermore, 30 information stations have been tailored for the CIIE, offering content, smart charging, and automatic translation services. So far, the CIIE has opened a service counter that offers English services, and five more languages including Japanese, Korean, German, French and Spanish will soon become available.

With over 20 5G bases installed at the convention center, the NECC is now broadly covered by 5G. The world’s first integrated small-sized 5G base has been introduced to the main exhibition hall, to showcase China’s application of 5G technology in different fields.

The S26 Expressway is an important path that links the NECC with downtown Shanghai and Jiangsu province. Multiple advanced technologies are available to make this journey quick and easy.

For instance, the cast-in-situ box girder of the main span that weighs as much as 3,050 tonnes was removed from its original piers, which ranks as the heaviest in the history of a single-body bridge removal, to make way for an expressway which opened to traffic 100 days ahead of schedule.

Additionally, noise barriers have been set in some sections of the road, effectively shielding passengers from the noise made by passing vehicles.

Some Vietnamese (claimed) members here =/= VCP (Vietnam)

:D
This is true of most Vietnamese, which is the result of the Vietnamese education system,If Vietnam wants to cooperate with China, I have no objection,These are all interests.

.
Vietnam? The crafty Vietnamese, but Vietnamese members always want to oppose China.
It’s symbolic I guess. Xtremly hard to sell Vietnam-made products in China. Look, we have Pho-resto all over the world. But against Chinese noodle dishes Vietnam has no chance.

The ministry said at a CIIE press conference that the number of companies from Belt and Road countries accounts for nearly one third of all firms attending the expo.

They are expected to display a variety of products from agricultural products to consumer goods and garments in a booth area of 45,000 square meters, it said.

Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Bingnan said the expo will become another important prop for the joint construction of the Belt the Road Initiative, offering new opportunities for foreign countries to expand exports to China.

The expo will also feature products from over 30 least developed countries (LDCs), including Ethiopia's coffee, handicrafts from South Sudan and Tanzanite from Tanzania, said Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau.

Sun said they will offer two free exhibition booths to each participating LDC to support their entry into the Chinese market.

The CIIE is scheduled to start in Shanghai Monday. More than 3,000 companies from over 130 countries and regions have so far confirmed their attendance in the event.

Actually, there is. I have seen in various Mainland cities. And definitely Taiwan also has. But, they are made Chinese, to some degree, so that taste would be too unfamiliar.

Similarly, there are Japanese Tappenyaki restaurants all over Greater China but they mostly have little to do with real Tappenyaki in Japan.

There will be tough competition. But anything electric will find a market in Mainland, I guess. They can also consider electric tri-cycles, especially for light work in rural areas.

Works wonders in Mainland although I noticed when I was there that villagers are moving toward buying (Haval, mostly) SUVs.

Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the Country Pavilions at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai after he made a keynote speech at the opening ceremony on Monday, along with foreign leaders attending the expo.

During the visit, President Xi said the event provided a platform for strengthening cooperation among the participating countries.

He said exports to China have diversified the country's market and satisfied the shifting needs of its consumers.

The Chinese president also encouraged other countries to continue exporting high-quality goods to China and achieve win-win results.

Along with Xi, other world leaders said they appreciate China's support for their countries' participation, and the CIIE has shown China's openness and inclusiveness.

They spoke highly of China's development and President Xi's speech at the opening ceremony.

They also said they value the Chinese market and support free trade.

The venue area is about 30,000 square meters, and is exclusively reserved for country exhibitions, not for business transactions. A total of 82 countries and three international organizations are participating in this section, with 71 booths being set up. The participating countries exhibit their national symbols, economic and trade achievements and featured products.

The 12 guest countries of honor, including Indonesia, Vietnam, Pakistan, South Africa, Egypt, Russia, the UK, Hungary, Germany, Canada, Brazil and Mexico, have set up featured pavilions.

China, as the host country, has also established the China Pavilion, including exhibiting areas for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
